Ticket questions for a newbie

Basically I need the low down on where to sit and where not to sit and the best way to get tickets in advance without blowing an absolute TON of cash. Despite being a Buckeye born and raised, I've never actually attended a game and I hope to change that this year.

What's the best I could do for say 200-250 a ticket for an OOC game (preferably Cal) and what sections should I be looking at?

You can still get them for face for most games including Cal. Use the Ticketmaster link here.

Yeah, my only problem with that is that I'm going with someone else and I'd really prefer the seats to be together, which is next to impossible outside of some of what appear to be the worst seats in the house.

Really what I'm looking for is a guide as to what sections to avoid and things like that, I'd hate to pay a bunch of money and get stuck behind a pillar.

Do your best to avoid b-deck. Unless your in the first 8 rows or so you're going to get pillars that block your view. Also I highly encourage C-deck towards the 50. You're not going to pay the price that you would for A or AA but I think the view is just as good if not better. I also like higher A deck towards the 50 as well. When you get into the AA you may have trouble seeing even though you're so close to the field. I'd shoot for A deck or C deck as close to the 50 as you can get. That's just my preference.

I've found some tickets for C deck around the 50 within the 8-16 or so range, would the view be pretty good from that area? I'm sorry if I'm frustrating you guys, but I really have zero idea what the scale is going to be like from that high up if the stadium's as big as I think it is.

when i'm looking for tickets, my first choice is always c-deck within the 30s between rows 4 and 20 or so. that view is, in my opinion, the best in the house. though it is the top deck, you don't at all feel that far from the action. even seats toward the top aren't too bad. also, while i'll never pass up something in the first few rows of c-deck, understand that there is a bar than can be directly in your line of sight. in short, i would be surprised if you don't end up pleased choosing c-deck near the 50 between rows 4 and 20(ish).

the way that i differentiate a-deck from c-deck is that a-deck is better for experiencing the game, while c-deck is better for watching the game. a-deck is louder and the game can be more exciting since you're closer to the action. c-deck just offers the better view when you're near mid-field.
