I'm new to these boards so I'm not sure where this thread would go, but my guess is here for now, but I'm looking to purchase tickets to the Troy game, and they are in section 31B, are these considered "student tickets"

There is a sub-forum entitled Buckeye Ticket Forum. It will get moved there.
You can do much better for the Troy game than 31B. Unless they were below face, I would wait.

Well, since it is before school starts, student bought tickets will be scattered around so they could be or they couldn't. And they are very strict about Buck ID's don't let anyone fool you with that.

Some ticket takers are strict and some arent.. I know I went up there a couple years ago with a student ticket and one guy wouldnt take it but told us to keep trying different gates cause someone would take it.. He was right, the lady at the next gate didnt check and we was in.. I wouldnt take the risk myself but it is possible..

I don't know if the entire section is this way, but I believe 31b is the Troy section. I sat in that section for Michigan State last year and they were the Sparty section and not good seats at all if you're picky. That said, the view is not obstructed and they are in the 'Shoe so they could be worse. I may be there for Troy again this year as I'm considering getting tickets through the Troy ticket office and I would assume that is the section they are in.

Don't pay more than $70 each for them as you can get them through the Troy ticket office for face + a $15 "handling" fee per order (not per ticket).

31B is generally part of the opposing fans section

There are no sections specifically for students for the Troy game, (or YSU or Ohio) because those games aren't part of the student ticket package this year (students still have the option of buying tickets for those games but the games take place before the students are officially on campus).

During the Student ticket package season their will be 2 "Block O" sections specifically for students, 39A and I believe 1A/2A (just starting to put them back on the north this year)

A couple things

#1 Yea it depends on what gate you happen to go in as far as how strict they are in checking Buck ID's

#2 It does not matter if you use your OWN buck id or not, ala students are allowed to give their buck id to the person who has their ticket to allow them to get in with that (the theory being that they will only give their id out to someone like a family member who can use their ticket). The catch to that being that they do not actually scan the ID, I personally have a couple of old deactivated Buck ID's laying around because I always find them the second after I get a new one.

That being said I doubt they are student tickets as thats generally an opposing fan section, but it can never hurt to ask I guess
