Let me start off by saying that I am a “The Glass is Half Full “ Kinda guy. ….

Especially where tOSU Football is concerned.<O:p</O:p

IMHO …. <O:p</O:p

There are several reasons to be excited about this season.<O:p</O:p

First, we are back to being “OVERRATED” in the polls.<O:p</O:p

Another similar item is that we do not have the #1 target on our backs. While it was great to be there, everyone wants to beat #1, and I think we will sneak up on a few people.

From reading other boards …

NC State has expressed the opinion that we will get our butts kicked in their house, but that is only after Cinci and <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:City><ST1:pMarshall </ST1:p</st1:City>has handed us our hats in <st1:City><ST1:pColumbus</ST1:p</st1:City>.

Northwestern’s school paper has us as a probable W .... for them, and <st1:State>Iowa</ST1:p</st1:State> is certain that they will send us home with clean clocks. However, that is only missing the Wiscy team off of the first half of our schedule …and that is the one team I am most worried about from the first half.

Meanwhile, the Big Ten heats up for us in the second half of the season with <st1:State><ST1:pIndiana</st1:State>
<st1:State></ST1:p</st1:State>followed by <ST1:p<st1:City>Penn</st1:City> St, <st1:State>Mich</st1:State></ST1:p St, Poopoopurdue, and scUM.

So the thick of the Big Ten Teams are our last 4 games.

From what other teams on our schedule are predicting, we could have a perfect record heading into the last half of the season with 6 L’s on our record. Then if we get lucky and win half of our games, we could finish 3-8 or 4 -7 if we are really on a roll !!!!<O:p</O:p

My view is that we have a pretty good set up ……

While Cincy might be a test, I think JT has the Boys ready to play ….

I say we win that one …..<O:p</O:p

Next we get another local test …. <st1:City><ST1:pMarshall.</ST1:p</st1:City><O:p</O:p

While they are not a cup cake, they are also not SCum or scUM caliber either. <O:p</O:p

So we then head to a better team in <st1:Street><st1:address>NC St</st1:address></st1:Street>.<O:p</O:p
We are now into our third game, and our first road game.<O:p</O:p
tOSU should be able to have a few things down for our first big test.

This game will be pivitol to our season.<O:p</O:p

We are on the road against a highly regarded team. This is where we will make a big jump up in the polls. While this is a tough game, I think the Bucks come to play.<O:p</O:p
NC State thinks they will get revenge, and the home field advantage will make a close game a W for the home team …Not so fast my friends ….. this is tOSU.
I say we thank them for their hospitality, and head home.

OSU 3 -0. And we are near the top 5. <O:p</O:p

</O:pNext we have a bye week prior to heading in to the Big Ten.<O:p</O:p

Is this perfect so far or what …. ??????

Two mid level teams at home, But respectable enough to not get us too much grief for playing Cup Cakes. We also get to play at home …. Then we go on the road for a very respectable opponent.

Now, prior to the Big Ten a week off … What could be better ?

How about getting into Big Ten play with one of the weakest teams in the conference starting with a bye week, and getting an always dangerous road game out of the way at the same time...

Perfect !<O:p</O:p

Next we open the real Big Ten Season … AT HOME ….

Against an Always dangerous team …. BUT AT HOME,

The crowd is into this and we post a “W”<O:p</O:p

Then, after this tough game …we go to <st1:State><ST1:pIOWA</ST1:pl</st1:State> ….. where we have done well of late …..
still a dangerous part of the schedule, and still two good teams back to back ….

But I love the fact that our first true test is Wiscy as our first Big Ten Home game, and
<st1:State><ST1:pIowa</ST1:p </st1:State>is the road game ….<O:p</O:p

So now we are sitting pretty …. 6-0 … and in the top 5.
Next we get a breather …. <st1:State><ST1:pIndiana</ST1:p</st1:State> …… don’t matter where, but it is Home Coming ….. 7-0<O:p</O:p

Now to the home stretch ……. Four tough games …… How do we want them ?????

How about starting in the ‘Shoe ….. with <ST1:p<st1:PlaceName>Penn</st1:PlaceName><st1:PlaceType>State</st1:PlaceType></ST1:p.... 8 -0<O:p</O:p

So if we have to play half on the road …let's travel to <st1:Street><st1:address>Mich St.</st1:address></st1:Street> and then to Pudue.<O:p</O:p

While I would prefer all teams at home … I would rather play these two away then to
play AT <st1:Street><st1:address>Penn St</st1:address></st1:Street> and AT scUM. We get the best deal possible.

Then we head home for the Big Ten Finale …… <O:p</O:p

scUM at home..... for all the marbles.

Bring your best steele …. As it will be a Doozie.<O:p</O:p

Quick synopsis …..<O:p</O:p

Fine tune at home …. Big Road game.<O:p</O:p

Rest and heal and fine tune with a bye week …<O:p</O:p

ease into the Big Ten ….. get all our ducks in a row …<O:p</O:p

hit a Big W at home …<O:p</O:p

fine tune for a week, get some playing time for the #2s and some rest for the #1s …

then head into a tough last month, but with the Table Set just the way we like it.<O:p</O:p

Big Game at home … two on the road and then the <O:p</O:p

Big Ten Championship at HOME. <O:p</O:p

This schedule was made to order to season a young team !

Tall Indian of Nerk,
Love your assessment of the season. I, too, think the setup is perfect. We should be ready for NC St by Sept. 18, if our OL is semi-solid and one of our QBs is Krenzel-equivalent. That remains to be seen, but I'll lay down a "W" for 9/18. Wisconsin scares me as always....maybe the shock of watching them throttle us for 35 consecutive points a few years ago is still haunting me, but thisis the key game to the season for me. Will the DL and Schlegal stop their run game? If so, I'll tack up another "W". Tsun at home? Rack it....that one is ours.
Let's do our part, now. See all of you at the Shoe on Sept 4. Go Bucks!

Welcome to the board. I was also haunted by that Wisky game, and I know you still are, since they actually got 42 straight on us.

Time for some payback.

Love positive thinkers. We haven't done anything yet for anyone to think that we should be anything but favorites in every game we play this year. Obviously, that can change after week 1, but until then I say undefeated.
