Thread problem - blank pages

    • I don't know what is going on lately but for the last week a large number of the threads on here only open as blank white pages for me. It isn't every thread, only specific ones, but it is always the same ones. Including a number of the recruiting threads. Is this a site issue or is it my computer? Any help would be appreciated.
     
    I suspect Deety's solution will work, but I'm curious about the root cause. Would someone link one (or more) of the threads where this happens routinely?

    Also, if you do View > Page Source, is that blank as well?

    I ask these questions as if I'll know what to do with the information. But play along, and maybe I'll keep wandering accidentally into answers and solutions. Worked so far, although sometimes the good folks over at Jelsoft are actually helpful too. Sometimes.

    I've been having some problems with this as well. Here's what I've got so far:

    When I get the white page, the correct thread URL is listed. View source shows no data on the page (no <html> or anything)

    I have my posts/page set to 50 right now. I think the problem has gotten worse since I upped the count from the default value on Friday.

    I do have a workaround that seems to work 100% of the time:

    I simply paste a reply URL in the address bar and change the thread number (23788 in this example) to the thread number that I want to see.

    Note that I can only see the last 50 items, so it isn't perfect for longer threads. Since this works everytime for me, maybe this will help in troubleshooting the problem?

    Update: Reducing the number of blank pages instantly made this issue go away. I was consistently able to break this setting the posts/page to 50 and fix it by reducing the number to 5, 10, 15, 20, 30 and even 40.

    I'm going to cruise at 40 for a while and let you know how it goes. Maybe an easy fix would be to set the maximum thread/page count to 40 or less.
