Thoughts/grade my FF draft picking 12th (last)

I've always thought that picking last made things very difficult, thought I have rarely ever had to do it. Sunday I found myself picking 12/12 in a pay league, so I am wondering how people think I did, considering the draft position (be honest, I can take it).

Standard points, QB, 2 RB, 3WR, TE, K, D/ST, 7 bench

QB- P Rivers
RB- B Jacobs, LenDale White, W Parker, L Washington
WR- Andre Johnson, T Owens, Vincent Jackson, S Breaston, Steve Smith (NYG) J Maclin
TE- V Shiancoe, A Fasano
K- L Tynes
D- Minnesota, NY Jets

I drafted last in the deuce draft and also ended up with Jacobs and Washington at RB. The news on Washington has been increasingly positive with him getting more and more touches. Could be a nice steal for both of us.

Jacobs has to stay healthy. For both of us.

The rest of my RB stable is Chris Johnson instead of Willie Parker and Fred Taylor instead of Lendale White. Also have Derrick Ward who could get the most touches of any of the TB RBs considering they gave him a starting RB's contract. I would be prepared to drop White early on in the season. I think he flops completely this year.

Your 1 and 2 at WR are as good as probably anybody's in your league. I like the Trent Edward/TO combination, at least early in the year, and Andre Johnson is always solid, especially if Schaub (my QB) can stay healthy. You WRs are far better than mine (Marques Colston, Donnie Avery, Brandon Marshall, Bradon Stokely [picked up Maclin but decided I needed a more proven #3 WR and who better than the guy who could benefit from the Marshall mess?] and Chris Henry).

Rivers is one of those guys like Roethlisberger...better actual QB than he is fantasy QB. I assume you plan on spot starting QBs when Rivers is on the bye week (week 5) or when the Chargers go to Pittsburgh (week 4), New York (week 9) or Tennessee (week 16)?

Two good young TEs...and we know Favre likes to throw to the TEs. I ended up with Carlson in my draft which I am happy about. I like Fasano a lot in that offense, especially considering Pennington can only throw the ball about 20 yards down field.

All in all I would say you had a pretty solid draft...I am someone who worries about kickers and defenses late in the draft because there are usually plenty of spot start options each week.

Yeah I didn't pick the kicker until my last pick...the Ds I picked a little earlier but not too early so I could have 2 good matchup options and made my only real mistake (they are both bye week 9 :shake:)

As for Rivers, I need to pick up a back-up/spot starter, but I wanted to finish the draft at the time and see how a few races for QB playing time shake out (most of the guys in tiers 1 and 2 were already gone by the time I got to thinking about another, so no reason to blow a draft pick). He definitely has some tough starts, but he did throw for over 4000 yards and like 30 TDs last year, so I think he's a better option than most, so I'll go with him most weeks.

I would much rather have Johnson than my other guys, so nice pick-up there, but I decided to go elite WR instead, so I took Andre, who rules most weeks. TO fell quite a bit, so I ended up getting him as good value, and Vincent Jackson and Breaston both had 1000 yards last year, so I think I'm reasonable at the WR spot.

I like my TEs...Carlson is good as well, I think he'll be open a lot while teams try and cover all the WRs they have.

Looks like you have a nice team too...Avery could have a good year (someone has to catch passes in San Louie), so you could be fine at wideout, at least in spots 1 and 2.

You'll definitely be fine at QB most weeks with Rivers...just the thought of starting any QB on the road in Pittsburgh scares me.

Sounds like Owens was a bit of a steal, and I like Breaston to only get better.

No matter which way you slice it, health is the biggest issue when you draft a guy like Jacobs. If he goes down we can both come back to this thread and vent.

By the way, love the Minnesota D this year...and with the Vikings being a run first team as Favre learns the offense, I imagine they will be asked to carry this team the first few weeks. They could put up monster points...even though they don't play a home game until week 3, they are at Cleveland and Detroit the first two weeks and then come home for San Francisco in week 3. Those are three VERY favorable matchups.
