It ain't easy, bein' cheesy.
I read that yesterday- amazing. I can see how it could be pretty bad, but imagine the upsides.... As an athlete, you could play through "pain" with no trouble at all (providing there was someone around to tell you that you don't have a serious injury), it wouldn't hurt to go to the Dr. or Dentist, there must be a million of 'em.
And just think about all the money you could make doing bar tricks....

I read this yesterday too. The one thing I wonder about is if she can feel pleasure (tickles, goosebumps, sex later in life, etc.). The story said she can feel hugs but is that just because she can feel the pressure of the squeeze?

I don't know if they would let her be an athlete. Girls blow out knees very easily (my girlfriend did it playing bball and it seemed like they had a couple girls blow out knees every season) and this girl wouldn't know if she did. Hopefully when she gets older she will be able to determine for herself when she might have done something to hurt herself. I'm sure someone like this would be able to push themself harder than someone who does feel pain, but they also have a chance of pushing themself too hard.

I definitely got the inference that she can feel everything but pain. The article said only the nerve endings that sent pain signals to the brain were affected. All other nerve endings are ok.
