'Would Have Taken This At The Start Of The Week' - Rory's Caddie Deserves More Credit For Dropping This Line Right After The Missed Putt On 18

You wonder part of the job for caddies? It's this right here. The ability to keep your guy loose going to a playoff and suffering another tragic collapse. It's a great line too. It's the perfect little joke you need to crack when you're close buddies with someone too. So shout out Harry Diamond, this is the sort of line that helped get Rory a green jacket.

As far as the knockers hit it these days, Rory seemed to match DeChambeau yard for yard, don't see the concentration levels etc of a Jack Nicklaus. Jack (and Trevino etc) seemed to be honed in. Rory (to me at least), seems to be a 'pleaser', which the game needs, giving him a more friendly aspect. Certainly, the game of golf has its ups and downs (per hole, as well as a round). Rory was able to work through, and persevere. More power to him. Believe heard the announcers say he's one of the few (Jack, Tiger, etc) that have won all four of the major championships (Masters, US Open, British Open, and PGA). Not certain if they meant in their lifetime, or in one year. Anyway, kudos to this young man.

Only six golfers have won all four of golf's modern majors at any time during their careers, an achievement which is often referred to as a Career Grand Slam: Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, and Rory McIlroy. Woods and Nicklaus have won each of the four majors at least three times.

Nobody has won all 4 major tournaments in the same calendar year. However, Tiger Woods did win 4 in a row over a 2 year period:

Tiger Woods is the only player to have held all four major titles (Masters, Open, US Open, and PGA Championship) simultaneously. This achievement, known as the "Tiger Slam," occurred between 2000 and 2001.

That should be called a ‘Straddle Slam’, which would work for both golf and tennis, but the talking heads haven’t figured out how to name the 4 straight majors that aren’t in the same calendar year. Martina Navratilova once won 6 straight, which is the record, but nobody ever talks about it.

Remember that Tiger's record didn't occur in a calendar year. But to my way of thinking, all four trophies appeared on his living room mantle at the same time, who cares if it wasn't during an arbitrary time period. Never heard of the term 'straddle slam', which isn't significant of anything, but will tuck it away to use at some point in time. I forgot to mention Hogan, Player and Sarazen. Thanks for the correction.
