Scottie Scheffler Completed Wild Masters Feat With 62-Foot Birdie Putt

His monster birdie putt on the 4th hole was one for the history books—literally.

Scottie Scheffler's 62-foot birdie putt on the par-3 fourth hole of his opening round of the Masters on Thursday was one for the history books—literally.

The reigning Masters champion has made birdie or better on every hole at Augusta National after sinking that monster putt. It only took him 21 career rounds to achieve this feat, which is pretty spectacular.

Scheffler got the Masters crowd roaring early in his first round when he nailed the 62-foot birdie putt. Take a look at his incredible shot, which is garnering a lot of social media attention.

Masters golfer risks punishment after urinating on Augusta course - 'If I had to, I'd do it again'

790659b83ca6b5cfabd4519bf03f692a

Spanish amateur golfer Jose Luis Ballester caused a stir during the first round of the Masters tournament by urinating into Rae's Creek.

The 21-year-old, who was playing alongside world No 1 Scottie Scheffler and Justin Thomas, took the impromptu toilet break whilst playing the 13th hole at Augusta National.

The US Amateur champion's unconventional relief earned him applause from spectators who witnessed the incident on Thursday.

Ballester later admitted to reporters that he had forgotten about the available restrooms on the course.

The incident occurred after Ballester had played his third shot on the par-five 13th hole, when he sprinted to the iconic water hazard.

"I didn't really know where to go, and since JT had an issue on the green, I'm like, I'm just going to sneak here in the river," Ballester explained.

The young Spaniard turned his back to the grandstand behind the 14th tee as he relieved himself.

His actions drew enthusiastic applause from the gallery, which Ballester described as "probably one of the claps that I really got today real loud".

When questioned about potential repercussions, Ballester remained completely unapologetic about his actions.

Just sayin': Golfer getting a different kind of "relief" on the 13th hole.

Wasn't that a two stroke penalty? Anyways, yeah, when you gotta go.....it's customary to go behind a tree, blocking yourself from view from at least some of the women who happen to be on the course. In the open like that, with cameras (!) around, might indicate either the extreme need to go, or lack of judgement. I probably would have run into the woods/rhododendrons, and walked down with a golf ball in my hand, showing I was ball hawking.

I love the Masters and before I die, I'll be at one of these.

For some reason though, this year just isnt gripping me like it normally does. I hope my love for it isnt diminishing because it still exudes class and professionalism that I have always admired in sports.
Yes. For sure.

Hanging with John Daly at the Augusta Hooters

i

On Monday, when Augusta National closed its gates to patrons because of inclement weather, golf fans still found a historic site to pay homage to golf history.

Just a mile from Augusta's iconic Magnolia Lane, they wait in the rain -- young and old, foreign and domestic -- to pay pilgrimage. As Simon (and maybe Garfunkel) once said, they've all come to look for America.

It's officially Masters week in Augusta. But when you exit I-20, head east on Washington Road and orient toward Augusta National Golf Club, you're first greeted by another tradition unlike any other.

"COME SEE JOHN DALY TODAY," reads a sign outside Hooters, where, since 1997, the large -- and larger than life -- peanut M&M-eatin', Diet Coke-swiggin' legend sets up all week to sell his wares and take pictures with his people, with a Marlboro Red dangling above his wooly beard.

"John Daly's my hero," said Bret Bowen, an Augusta resident. "He's the best, drunkest golfer there ever was."

Daly, who hasn't played in the Masters since 2006, still shows up every year, offering a stark contrast to the sanctity of the world's most famous golf course down the street. Inside the fences of Augusta National, there are no phones, no cameras and certainly no Marlboros. At Hooters, however, lies the other Augusta, the touchstone for fans to get up close with an everyman icon at a place where he can do what he needs to do.

"Eat some good food, smoke, sell some s---," Daly said.

And he sells a lot of, uh, stuff. Last year, Daly sold about $780,000 of goods on the Hooters patio, according to his team. This year, he may exceed that due to Monday's rainout and the line that stretched farther than one of Daly's bombs off the tee box. The hats -- some with an illustration of Daly's face, others encouraging us to grip it and rip it -- at $40, keep selling all day. Boxes of his "Short Game" cigars, with 20 4½-inch-long stogies, "full of cinnamon earth and elegant floral notes," sell for $250. They were sold out by Wednesday morning.

I definitely am fully invested this year as I am every year, everything about it is great. Honestly, the fun day on Wednesday with the kids might be the best part. I was worried Rose might start running away with it, but several very capable golfers gained some ground (Dechambeau, Scheffler, etc.) and there are two days left, so it could shape up for an epic ending. I'm making some pimento cheese sandwiches Sunday for our Masters party and it should be a blast.

That said, the first two days of coverage SUCKED. So many big names playing and you have to use the app to watch it? Absolute bullshit, it is the biggest golf tourney of the year and it should be on ESPN/ABC/CBS or something widely available. I don't want to watch everything until 1pm MST on my phone.

Waiting for the '900' channels to come on (today, I believe). I sit and watch Amen Corner over and over. Probably the best stretch of golf ever. Always said that if you can navigate Amen Corner on Sunday, you'll win the whole dang thing. Would one day hope a cameraman would be positioned down at green level, and we could watch one of those putts do their extraordinary breaks. Scary...
