Virginia Tech quarterback Marcus Vick was charged Saturday morning with reckless driving and possession of marijuana.
Vick, who along with two teammates was convicted in May of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, was stopped by state police for going 86 miles an hour on Interstate 64 near New Kent. Police found two bags containing marijuana on him.
Vick, from Warwick High in Newport News, was released on a summons.
Vick was sentenced to 30 days in jail and fined $2,250 for his May conviction. His lawyer has appealed and a court date has not been set.
Tech athletic director Jim Weaver has said the three players will be disciplined for the earlier conviction.
Vick was suspended for a game during the 2003 season for an unspecified violation of team policy.
Vick is expected to compete with Bryan Randall for the starting job this season.
