The Holidays...Just Shoot Me Now!

Taosman

Your Cousin In New Mexxico
Ah! Yes! It's that time of the year, again. The Holidays. When our thoughts turn to family gatherings and suicide. Or shootings.
It must be the twin stresses of being with many members of the family in a enclosed space and trying to find appropriate holiday gifts. I often think we would be better off just mailing gifts and spending quality time with people we actually get along with. I think that would relieve most of the stress and probably prevent many shootings and suicides. :tongue2:

Too bad for you. I get along with everyone on both sides of my family, so the holidays (i.e. Thanksgiving, Chanukkah, and Christmas) are times I look forward to.

I do agree with holiday shopping. I hate going within 10 miles of a mall or shopping plaza this time of year.

You're lucky about the family. I'm always getting calls, it's like "Oh help me Uncle Ubet...we're orphans. Our house was washed away by Katrina, blah blah blah.." Like I'm a bank and shit. It never ends, they're all, "Help me with my meds so I can eat too - Ooohhh...I'm on a respirator and my sister is dying." So I'm like, "Talk to the Salvation Army dung lung - sounds like you won't be needing any money after all!" Family! Holidays.

What a hassle.

I generally enjoy the holidays more and more as my kids are getting old enough to really get into it. The only think I hate about the holidays is that three week period afterward where I convince myself I need to start working out again. How fucking stupid can you be.

I like Christmas, always have, hope I always will.
``I am as light as a feather, I am as happy as an angel, I am as merry as a school-boy. I am as giddy as a drunken man. A merry Christmas to every-body! A happy New Year to all the world! Hallo here! Whoop! Hallo!''
Scrooge.jpg

Actually - I love Christmas. But Thump ain't around, so I had to put us in the mood.

I think that my Dad loved it an much as any man who lived. He always talked about being in a freezing Sherman tank on Christmas 1944 surrounded by Germans, and how every Christmas since then made him giddy with happiness.
