FWIW, the actual Heisman House (where John Heisman was born) is in Cleveland.

Heisman house to finally get correct marker after being placed in front of wrong house

The Heisman Trophy is given to the best college football player every season, but did you know it's named after a man that born was in Cleveland?

John Heisman, who is credited with an array of innovations in football, was born in Cleveland.

A historical marker has been in front of a home at 2825 Bridge Avenue in Ohio City for decades, with only one problem, the actual house is three blocks away at 3928 Bridge Avenue.

"So when we moved in there were rumors that this was the house but the sign was at a different house so we didn’t think that was true," the current homeowner said.

The mistake was made due to a mapping error 42 years ago.

City Council has voted to move the placard to Heisman's actual birthplace.

The way to early Heisman favorites for 2022:

Early Heisman Trophy favorites for 2022

C.J. STROUD, QB, OHIO STATE

C.J. Stroud earned Ryan Day’s approval in fall camp and never looked back. Stroud was banged up early in the season but he quietly racked up almost 4,000 yards in the air and threw for 38 touchdowns and only five interceptions, earning a trip to New York City as a Heisman finalist. Had Ohio State beat Michigan, Stroud could have walked away with the trophy (he was the heavy favorite after a Week 12 thrashing of Michigan State).

Stroud has some room for improvement on his accuracy and having a year of experience, I expect him to conquer the moment and have a big season in 2022. He will have plenty of weapons around him and Ohio State should be back in the playoffs with the addition of Jim Knowles as the defensive coordinator. Stroud will be positioned to win some hardware next season.

TREVEYON HENDERSON, RB, OHIO STATE

Superstar freshman TreVeyon Henderson exploded on the scene in Columbus and immediately threw his name in the hat for the Heisman after beating out some talented backs ahead of him. The highest-ranked RB recruit since the 2017 class that featured Najee Harris and Cam Akers, Henderson is a complete back who rushed for almost 1,200 yards at seven yards a touch and accounted for 19 touchdowns, rushing and receiving. Henderson looks poised for another big year but will have to share the spotlight with a handful of teammates and might end up splitting votes with Stroud. Big things are ahead for Henderson.

Heisman Trophy odds: Week 8 features major shift as Caleb Williams tumbles, Michael Penix Jr. separates

At the midway point of the 2023 college football season, the Heisman Trophy race has already seen countless shifts and will only continue to heat up in the coming weeks. The nation’s best players separated themselves from the pack over the campaign’s first seven weeks, and with the sport’s highest honor being mostly reserved for quarterbacks in recent years, the frontrunners are almost exclusively signal-callers.

The latest full slate of games provided the most significant amount of movement in the Heisman candidates’ betting odds yet. A rivalry game for the ages between Washington and Oregon created a major gap between Michael Penix Jr. and the field while reigning winner Caleb Williams tumbled after a three-turnover game in USC’s loss at Notre Dame.

MICHAEL PENIX JR., WASHINGTON: -140

DILLON GABRIEL, OKLAHOMA: +800

JAYDEN DANIELS, LSU: +850

J.J. MCCARTHY, MICHIGAN: +1000

DRAKE MAYE, NORTH CAROLINA: +1100

JORDAN TRAVIS, FLORIDA STATE: +1100

CALEB WILLIAMS, USC: +2200

QUINN EWERS, TEXAS: +3000

DREW ALLAR, PENN STATE: +3000

BO NIX, OREGON: +3000

KYLE MCCORD, OHIO STATE: +3000

DJ UIAGALELEI, OREGON STATE: +3000

Why isn't our best player - arguably the best player in the country - not on this list?
