Metal Rules
My wife and I have been contemplating a overnight camping thing, go pitch a tent, no pun intended, start a fire, and do some night fishing.
what do you like to do? Camping, fishing, hiking, boating, hunting? Whatever? Maybe you have some photo's from a camping trip, fishing,or hunting trip.A favorite spot you go too,or a spot you want to go to.

The Lord didn't invent Hoiday Inn for no reason.

What I would do... is take baby steps... like go fishing... see if she likes that... go Hiking... see if she likes that... I wouldn't throw them all together at once....

As for what to expect from camping with a women...

Whining, and no TV to drown it out.

complaining.

Hehe, well, depending on the conditions. My wife and I love to camp and she only complains when it's cold - we did some early spring camping in the mountains in '03, pitched our tent in about 3-4 feet of snow. We were hoping to fish, but the lake we hiked in to was frozen solid

We did another backpacking trip over the 4th of July weekend this year. We hiked in 4 miles and camped at around 11,000 feet. On the morning of the 3rd, we got snow! Just a little, but it was kind of funny to have frozen precipitation in July. It was pretty windy that weekend too.

If you're going to be car camping, dont skimp on the 'creature comforts', i.e. air matress, cooler of beer, etc.

Hope you have fun!

I think Brutus is on the right track here. I would suggest a dry run attempt.

Set up the tent in your backyard, have sex in the tent (since that is the whole reason you are inviting her) and then see if she can stay there all night without going in the house. My money is on after the sex she goes in the house.

if you have never camped with a woman, i'll advise against it

I don't know I just went camping two nights ago with the girl I am seeing and it was nothing but a great experience. No complaining (well not much there were a lot of mosquitos) and it was actually fun.

I have never met a chick that doesnt like camping and such. If she didnt, I would kick her to the curb pretty fast. I love a girl who isnt afraid of dirt, bugs, putting bait on her hook, taking fish off the hook, etc.

make sure you have some sort of inflatable matress for the tent though, cause if not, gets a tad painful.

there are quite a few state parks with cabins available, it aint the holiday inn, but it isn't a tent either. It is more somewhere in between, I tent to find that chicks get a little upset when they have to use the bathroom on the ground. Our family just got back from a long weekend at lake hope at the end of June. I am planning another one for this fall (yep, dammit, there is satellite tv) again just a long weekend but at Pike Lake this time. We haven't been there before, I am hoping that the cabins are comparable to the ones at lake hope. If you do decide to go this route, look around, there is a serious difference between the kind of cabins and the cost between the different parks even just in Ohio (form $50 a night to $250 a night for the really nice ones with hot tubs and stuff).

This site lists the ones with camping and cabins if you would like a reference, unfortunately you need to go to each individual one to obtain pricing.

I think it will be great no matter what you decide, if you and your wife are into the outdoors (hunting camping fishing hiking whatever) then when you have kids they will grow up with that same appreciation. IMO that is a very important gift that doesn't seem as utilized as it used to be, or should still be.

I love taking my sons on hikes in the woods, and here in a few years when they learn a little bit more patience I am sure fishing will be a bit more fun too.

I love hiking. I've been out to Yosemite a few times, Grand Canyon, Havasu Canyon, Cascades, Kings Canyon, Zion. As you can tell, I love the west. I just went out to Big Sur this past week with my fiance. I don't think I'll be able to convince her to go camping. She's in for hiking, but she would probably start complaining if I went more than 3 miles. We had a good routine though. We stayed in some nice cabins and I would wake up at 6 AM to go on some long hikes (6-8 miles) and be back by late morning. Hopefully she'll keep letting me do this, but heck, I already feel myself getting old. I don't think I could do the Half Dome hike anymore. :smash:
