The Game In October?

There are rumblings out of Big Ten headquarters in Chicago that the conference will choose to play the Ohio State-Michigan game sometime in October each year when the next set of schedules are released in 2015.

.../cont/...
F U Jim Delaney
F U Dave Brandon
F U Gene Smith

I made sure to send another letter to Pres Gee & the Big Ten offices re-iterating my strong opposition to such a decision & my unwillingness to support the school, conference or BTN with another dime if it comes to pass.

That is bull--fucking--shit. I don't mind the possibility of a rematch in the BTCG, but you do not move the regular season game from the last game of the year.

Can we please stop hiring people from fucking Arizona fucking State. Then again, why should we expect somebody to fight for Ohio State traditions when he was an Ohio kid who turned his back on Ohio State to head to South Bend.

Muck, if they try this, then a letter-writing campaign is in order. This is just one tradition too far.

They already tried it once & publicly backed off when faced with outrage from Ohio State fans & ones from TSUN.

Let me rephrase that...I don't believe for a moment that Delaney & Co truly backed off. I believe they just punted it down the road for another attempt when they believe people's attention will be elsewhere & it'll be easier to slide it in.

Remember the 'we'll take a look at them again a year' statement after the Legends & Leaders names received so much scorn? Does anyone truly believe those names will be honestly re-evaluated?

Make no mistake, the end game is to devalue The Game.

They were foolish for putting OSU/TSUN is separate divisions.

They tied their hands and have no choice but to move The Game to October. No one outside of Ohio/Mich will want to watch the same game in back-to-back weeks.

Bullshit. If they don't want back to back games, then their only choice is to change the divisions.

So now we get to screw up family time over Thanksgiving to potentially play Purdue or Indiana?

No. You god damn know that they're going to try to make Ped State our season ending "rivalry" game and do the same with Sparty for Michigan.

What was so hard about East and West? Look at the strength of the respective programs over the last twenty years:

Ohio State/Michigan = Nebraska/Wisconsin
Ped Aggy/Sparty = Iowa/Illinois
Purdue = Northwestern
Indiana = Minnesota

You have season ending rivalry games naturally set up within divisions:
Ohio State - Michigan
Ped Aggy - Sparty (sorry if that's beneath you Pedsters, but nobody held a [censored]ing gun to your head forcing you to join)
Indiana - Purdue
Illinois - Northwestern
Corn - Corn
Minny - Wiscy

If we had a real AD who was willing to team up with his counterpart in AA, we could stop this in its tracks....even if it meant threatening to start a Buckeye-Wolverine Network!

Instead we have a career mercenary who has never looked at any job other than as a way station to the next stop on his own personal gravy train. He won't dare offend the conference office or the other 10 AD's by actually standing up for Ohio State's interests. He might need them down the road.

There is a really easy solution to all of this nonsense. Just have Ped State and scUM flip divisions. Then we can play scUM at the end of each year as division rivals. I personally don't care if we miss Ped State some years. We only started playing them every year in 1993.
