Game Thread THE GAME: Ohio State 14, TSUN 3 (final)

"The Game" Preview is posted. Let's give these folks a ton of credit for all the hard work and dedication they have displayed this season. I know personally (and some of them [the noobs] found out the hard way) how much time and effort goes into producing just one of these previews. They are doing it weekly ... on a tight turnaround ... all for the love of the Buckeyes and this community. They have my unending thanks and admiration ... hopefully yours as well.

That is an amazing amount of information. Kudos everyone!

Go Bucks!

Great, great read. Really good stuff. I thought you were even generous with some of the Michigan rankings, but much appreciated

Anyway, our conferences lessers are not doing us any favors. Wisconsin, Iowa, Penn State, Michigan, Minnesota, and Northwestern all have OOC slates that can best be described as Big Ten Network fodder.

Now, I would say that the other big conferences are ducking the B10, except that it sure does seem that OSU has no trouble scheduling big OOC matchups.

Hey, don't go blaming m*ch*g*n for NoD sucking. That's Ty Willingham's fault

I unfortunately missed this action from The Game last year. I'd probably tear my rotator cuff doing it but I gotta think I've still got one last 90+mph throw left in the tank for a tsun fan.

The guy who pulls up in the moving truck is fucking hilarious.

I know it is the week of THE GAME, but I have not read one post in this thread. Forgive me for skipping 39 pages to say this:

I am watching the HBO special right now 'Michigan vs. Ohio State- The Rivalry'. It is a classic, and one that I would recommend every Buckeye fan watch, and yes those on the dark side too. Just good stuff. It will have you ready if nothing else will.

I came to say this though...Michigan has made a living 2 ways: 1) Winning games when no one else had a football team and, 2) Winning games like this that they are supposed to lose. I will continue...

In no way whatsoever will I ever predict a scUM win. In no way whatsoever will I ever admit before THE GAME that we aren't as good as scUM. In no way whatsoever will I ever be happy with a Buckeye loss, as served up less than a week ago. But I will trade a loss last weekend with a WIN this weekend.

My point is, if we were destined to lose a game this season, which I guess the national consensus was that was going to happen, then we should all be blessed that we now have that loss out of the way. NO WAY would I ever want to go up to Ann Arbor (is a whore) and blow the REAL senior day for Kirk Barton, Dionte Johnson, Larry Grant, and the rest. Any Junior considering leaving early, this is THE GAME. Leave your mark. You will have calm, laid back, level-headed Midwestern folk CRYING 20 years from now.

I see absolutely NO WAY we lose this weekend. NO WAY.

We needed a reason to show up, and well, we got one. The Big Ten Championship is what we play for. Go Bucks

Buckeyes get offense ready for Michigan
Balance produces lots of points

Ohio State's Maurice Wells breaks away in the Illinois game. OSU has scored big against Michigan in recent years.

COLUMBUS - In six games against Michigan, Ohio State coach Jim Tressel has had his way five times. The former college quarterback still knows who led his defenses in those battles, and who his kickers were, but his most intimate involvement has always been with the Buckeyes' offense. Tressel understands the intricacies there, because he designs most of them. In the half-dozen battles with the Wolverines, Tressel-coached teams have scored more than 27 points per game. Over the past three games - all Ohio State victories - that offensive average of the Buckeyes jumps to almost 35 points per game.

Bo can still rally the troops at Michigan

By ZACH SILKA
BLADE SPORTS WRITER

ANN ARBOR - His office remains just the way he left it, an immaculate tribute to an iconic figure not only at the University of Michigan but also across the landscape of college football. Glenn E. Schembechler, simply known as "Bo" to friends and foes alike, will be remembered forever in the Michigan football program and his impact continues to be felt to this day. Saturday, Nov. 17 - the most anticipated day of the year for Ohio State and Michigan players, fans and coaches - fittingly marks the one-year anniversary of his untimely death. The statistics that mark the success of Schembechler's 21-year tenure as coach at Michigan are astounding. His 194 wins are the most in school history. He led the Wolverines to 13 Big Ten championships, 17 years finishing in the top 10 of the AP poll, and 17 bowl games, including 10 Rose Bowl appearances.

Buckeyes expect that Hart, Henne will play

By MATT MARKEY
BLADE SPORTS WRITER

COLUMBUS - That thinly disguised personnel shell game being played out in Ann Arbor this week is not fooling anyone 160-some miles to the south. No amount of vague remarks, no litany of bleak prognoses, or any attempt at outright obfuscation will convince the Ohio State players of anything other than facing a Michigan team on Saturday that has Mike Hart and Chad Henne reporting for duty. "I'm sure if they have a heartbeat, they'll be playing," Buckeyes wide receiver Brian Hartline said. Hart, Michigan's brash and outspoken tailback, and Henne, the Wolverines' quarterback, have both missed action lately due to injuries. Michigan coach Lloyd Carr said earlier this week that the status of the two senior fourth-year starters for the game with the rival Buckeyes was uncertain.

Coming from an end, or Michigan
JASON LLOYD, Morning Journal Writer

COLUMBUS -- It might be difficult for some Michigan players to cross the southern border and play for Ohio State, but not Vernon Gholston. After all, Gholston didn't know much about football at all until his sophomore year of high school.

Ohio State recruited Gholston out of Cass Technical High School in inner city Detroit. His body is so sculpted, it looks like he's been working on it his entire life for this opportunity. Truth is, his high school coach, former Michigan player Thomas Wilcher, began recruiting him out of the school hallway his freshman year.

''He saw me walking in the hall and thought I was a parent or somebody just visiting the school,'' Gholston said. ''I told him, ?No, I go here.' It was a shock to him.''

Gholston has evolved into one of the top defensive ends in the country. Gholston's four sacks two weeks ago against Wisconsin vaulted him to third in the Big Ten with 10 sacks for the year. With a bench press of 475, he is probably the strongest player on the team.

''He looks like a bodybuilder and he runs like a sprinter,'' said right tackle Kirk Barton, who has seen plenty of Gholston in practice.
