Game Thread THE GAME: Ohio State 14, TSUN 3 (final)

Noise from Ann Arbor is that Michigan respects tradition and that this game will be played on time.

I'm all for that. I was not a fan of the later starting time at all....had to stay up until 4 a.m. over here. Regardless, I'll always prefer the noon start time.

"Nov. 17 vs. Ohio State. Playing the Buckeyes to a nearly dead-even draw last year..."

This really gets my goat. Take away the fumbles and interception (the only forced error) and the Buckeye's completely dominated the game... Michigan's last score came against a prevent defense, determined to trade off yardage for time. Much the same holds true for the 05 game too.

Not to mention that both PI calls that led to Michigan TDs were pure bullshit...

I'm all for tradition and everything but last years game starting around 4:00 and ending under the lights was amazing. Watching all the flashbulbs go off with a minute to go on the last drive to ice it, rushing the field under the lights, singing Carmen Ohio in that huge crowd - thats memories I'll never forget.

Game Twelve: Ohio State at Michigan (Nov 17th)

(Sorry if there is already a thread but I couldn't find one - and it is never too early to talk about this one.)

Just wanted to make a comment about schedules.

I have noticed the past few years that Michigan has set themselves up nicely for the OSU game. The past four seasons they have played either Indiana or Northwestern the week before the OSU game. Last year the THREE games leading up to OSU were Northwestern, Ball St and Indiana.

That gives lots of time to put things in place. Well, not this year.

Week 10 they are at MSU and week 11 at Wisconsin. Can't imagine looking past either of those.

Of course, given the results for Michigan lately, perhaps this is a good thing for them. I might even prefer they have a bye week before our game just so that pressure can build.

#2 game of the 2007 season

Last season's game lost a bit of luster after both teams were blown out in their bowl games, but the contest was still one of '06's finest. Michigan enters this year as the overwhelming Big Ten favorite, but the Wolverines have lost three straight -- and five out of six -- to the Buckeyes. Don't be surprised if this showdown serves as the de facto Big Ten championship game...

Predicted Finish 11-1 (7-1)
Two-Cent Overview
There has been so much hype about the Wolverines' offense that you would think Jimmy Clausen was the quarterback. The big names on offense return and Michigan can put as much skill on the field as any team in the country. As far as the defense is concerned, it's a good thing Michigan can put so much offense on the field, because they may need it. However, those people expecting Michigan's defense to resemble Purdue's will be disappointed. There are still good players on the field who have been waiting their turn to play.

Cont....

All joking aside, Michigan's opening losses predicates that their season has now boiled down to beating us. Maybe it's because my formitive years were during the Cooper Era, but I'm already nervous about this game, regardless of what scUM's record will be when they play us.

Cooper Induced Childhood Trauma occurs when young Buckeye fans witness a technically superior Ohio State team losing to Michigan, costing them a chance at a national championship, multiple times in a decade. '02, '05, and '06 have helped the recovery process, but you must conquer your fears to overcome the trauma - that is the only cure. If we win in 2007, hopefully I and others who suffer from CICT will finally be cured.

CICT is a horrible malady, and I do feel for those of you who were children during the Cooper era.

But trust me: Cooper Related Adult Paranoia is no picnic.

Every year, I tell myself, this is the year that I will believe. September and October arrive and I remind myself that JT is at the helm and we will be fine, but the middle of November rolls around and, as happens every year.....the demons close in. Sleep eludes me. Visions of Biakabutuka and Woodson haunt my fitful nights of sleeplessness. 28-0. 13-9. 31-23. 20-14. It is ungodly. I pray for the days that CITC leaves me, but I fear it is now a congenital condition that may never pass.

If I ever have children, I can only hope that this unholy disease will not be passed on genetically. May you burn in hell, John Cooper.
