Game Thread THE GAME, Nov 29th, High Noon, ABC (It was a nice Time For War while it lasted)

Just a thought....most of us here are born and raised fans of the Bucks, we've watched and loved them all our lives....as far as THE GAME we have been thru the highs (Tress ) and the lows (Coop :smash:) We know the history, the passion. We know Woody vs Bo. We know the tradition, the importance....we get it....So I wonder, for some of our young guys on the team, the ones who didn't grow up in a S&G house, a guy like JT or eZe, I wonder how the coaches teach these guys what we have learned in the lifetime of our fandom. I'm not trying to imply I don't think the young guys don't get it, in fact I'm certain they do, I just wonder how the coaches go about it? How do you teach the importance of THE GAME to someone who has grown up unfamiliar with it? Is it even possible to teach that kind of passion? That kind of hatred? Or for them is it just a rivalry because everybody says it is? Just curious at others opinions.....Lets kick the shit out of the bastards up north! :oh:

That was always the knock against Coop is that he didn't get it and therefore couldn't instill the passion in his team to get up for the GAME. In my opinion and I am sure there are others that know better, Coop relied more on kids from out of Ohio, who didn't understand the GAME. On top of that he also lost some greatly talented Ohio kids to ScUM, who really played balls to the wall against us.

I believe that became less of an issue when Tressel built the fence around Ohio and also now with Urban who grew up with the GAME and coached here. No problem with these guys getting these kids fired up for this one. Think of the passion we saw last year from guys like Dontre. Imagine if he were playing Saturday, I get chills thinking about it.

  • Smith was asked what motivational tactics were used during the week of the Michigan game when he played. "The Bruce," he said. "Earle Bruce. He was our only motivation that Thursday when he came for his talks so to speak."

Remember The Battle of Phillips Corner!!!

I still remember the war

waking up to the sounds of bombs dropping and children screaming

After I got back, I went through a rough time. Drinkin' booze, shootin' holes in the ceilin', screamin' myself to sleep... Finally, my parents said I had to move out.
