Game Thread THE GAME, 11/26/16, 12pm ET, ABC

IMO, Harbaugh is the biggest single reason why Scum lost this game. The turning point was his reaction to the (totally legitimate) offside call after the Baker interception. Coaches often protest calls that don't go their way. After watching quite a few SCUM games this year and last, I can honestly say that I have not seen a coach that complains about almost every call that goes against him as much as Harbaugh. Some will cite Woody and Bo, but my recollection of both of them is that it was not as frequent as Hairbaugh's tantrums.

In any case, Harbaugh threw his tantrum. He also threw his play sheets in the air. Unfortunately for him and his team, these play sheets ended on the field play. Any time that a coach or sideline throw something that ends on the field of play, they will be flagged for a penalty if seen by the refs. Every time. The penalty moved the ball to the 4 yard line and Weber scored 2 plays later. More importantly like their coach, Michigan as a team lost it. Up until then the Scum defense had dominated our offense. After they became a defense of misalignments and missed assignments. The OSU offense had as many yards in total offense in the last 15 minutes of the game as they had in the first 45 (and the first 45 had the first drive of the day that resulted in the missed FG). The Scum offense netted only 30 yards on their remaining 4 drives in regulation. Scum lost their composure (and the game) when their leader lost his composure.

Scum fans will make much of the fact that other coaches (like Urban)"throw their headsets". Beyond the fact that the item these coaches throw does not make it to the filed of play as noted above, the difference is that successful coaches (like Urban) instill in their players a culture that while you can be upset with the adversity you face, what is truly important is how you respond to that adversity (E + R = O).

By his actions on the field and after the game, Harbaugh has not and cannot instill that culture at Michigan.

That make me very happy.
Damned fine post. One of the best I've ever read. Wish I could "like" this twice.

There seems to be a consensus on radio and TV today that m*ch outplayed us. While I admit that if you asked me in the stands in the first three quarters I would agree, we dominated most of the remainder of play. If you take a step back and take an objective look at the box score, I don't see how anyone could come away with the conclusion we were outplayed....

Total yards-- OSU-330 m-310
Rushing yards--OSU-206 m-91
Turnovers -- OSU-1 m-3
First downs-- OSU-24 m-17

Like a lot of times the Box score doesn't tell all. We were dead on offense for most of the game. Came alive about midway through the 4th. If scUM doesn't butt fumble at the goal line this is a completely different game.

O vs O yes we were out played for 3.5 quarters of the game
D vs D we outplayed them thanks to stout run d and those take aways
