Hopefully, she’ll be up and running around soon enough, and you’ll both have plenty of fun years aheadView attachment 59561
Harley tripped while jumping off our bed in the wee hours last October. She ruptured a disc behind her shoulder blade and was unable to walk at all by noon. A CAT scan showed the swelling around her spinal cord. The vet explained to us how it was interrupting her signals. After two weeks or so she was able to walk a little bit on her own. We started doing some physical therapy around Christmas so that she could stop knuckling under when she walked. We found out this past Monday that she had lost all feeling about halfway below her elbow so amputation was the only realistic option. We had previously owned a three legged cat, so this isn’t new to us. It’s still pretty hard. The vet said that she was pretty cheerful after they brought her out from the anesthesia so we’re expecting a few more years of fun for her.

She’s more wasted than sad here.
edit: The eagle eyed among you may notice in the lower picture Harley has a pink collar. She’s wearing that one because the Scarlet and gray one was being washed. Apparently there’s no reason to remove the collar from a dog that’s undergoing major surgery 4 inches away.![]()
