The Demise Of Oregon's Future

We are going to be huge we just dont live off our past as much as lOSUr and NOtre GAME..
Oregon's best season ever was 2001, when the Ducks went 11-1 and came in second in the AP poll, which is Oregon's only top-five finish in the 74 years that that poll has been in existence (Ohio State has twenty top-five finishes by the way). Since 2001, Ohio State has won a national championship (2002), played in two more BCS title games (2006, 2007), and had two other top-five finishes (2003, 2005). Ohio State's overall record since 2001 is 76-13, for a winning percentage of .854, while Oregon's is 55-32, for a winning percentage of .632 (BTW, Buckeye coaches get fired for winning only 63% of their games). Now, who's living in the past?

Since your best-ever season of 2001, here's how Oregon has done in the AP poll:
2002 - unranked
2003 - unranked
2004 - unranked
2005 - #13
2006 - unranked
2007 - #23
And here's how Ohio State has fared:
2002 - #1
2003 - #4
2004 - #20
2005 - #4
2006 - #2
2007 - #5
But you are going to be huge? Nice try....

Now, if I were an Oregon fan, I wouldn't live in the past either ... because the Ducks have no past to speak of. Oregon has seven conference championsips, two outright ... Ohio State has seven national championships, two outright. In case you are wondering, the Buckeyes have 35 conference championships (that's five times the number that the Quacks have won), 19 of which have been outright.

For those of you who aren't aware, there are dozens of organizations (computer pollsters, CFB historians, newspapers, etc.) that have awarded national championships in the past, some of which continue to award titles to this day. In any given season, there may be upwards of thirty national championships awarded by those various organizations. Ohio State has won a grand total of 159 national championships in twenty different seasons ... while Oregon has won just one national title from one entity in one season (Harry Frye {who?} in 2001).

In terms of all-time record, Ohio State's is 807-306-52, for a winning percentage of .715, which places the Buckeyes at #4 overall (behind Michigan, Notre Dame, and Texas, some pretty good company). Oregon's all-time record is 558-462-47, for a winning percentage of .545, which places the Ducks at #52 overall (behind such powerhouses as Stanford, Tulsa, Navy, and Toledo).

One more series of facts to ponder.... Richard Billingsley is one of the most respected computer pollsters in the business, and he has created a power ranking for each Division 1-A program. Ohio State is third (behind Notre Dame and Michigan) with a ranking of 261.162, and Oregon is 44th with a ranking of 222.118. Billingsley has also created a list of the top 200 greatest teams of all time - Ohio State has 13 teams on that list:
#_18 - 2002 (14-0-0)
#_40 - 1954 (10-0-0)
#_60 - 1968 (10-0-0)
#_76 - 1996 (11-1-0)
#103 - 1973 (10-0-1)
#104 - 1975 (11-1-0)
#125 - 1944 (_9-0-0)
#143 - 2006 (12-1-0)
#147 - 1961 (_8-0-1)
#152 - 1957 (_9-1-0)
#159 - 1970 (_9-1-0)
#175 - 1998 (11-1-0)
#193 - 1949 (_7-1-2)
Oregon has one entry on Mr. Billingsley's list (the 2001 squad, which placed at #157).

So, past or present, Ohio State beats Oregon hands down. The future? Who knows, but people who follow recruiting closely (unlike you) know that the Buckeyes have put together two of their best-ever classes in 2008 and 2009, so it looks like we'll have a few more national championship runs in our future, while you'll be looking to finish the season with a ranked team. Good luck!

PS - and your uniforms are ugly. :tongue2:

Oregons recruiting vs output blows OSU out of the water..and that is why I know more about college football than all of you..and that is sanity..not dillusion talking. We get more out of our program than you..oh and in week 10 of 05' Osu was 37th in the country where oregon was 33rd and you dropped from 3rd nationally to 37th: why..oooovvvverrrratttteddddd.
overated. You are overhyped all the time. The reason why you have a high ranking for most of these years..is because you start out high and fizzle like the sprite i forgot to finish last night.

02 OSU (-1), UO (+24)
03 OSU (+23), UO (+33)
04 OSU (+6), UO (+13)
05 OSU (+4), UO (+15)

AND THIS IS WHY YOU DONT WANT US HAVING A BETTER RECRUITING CLASS..AND THIS IS HOW IT HAS BEEN OVER THE LAST 10 YRS

SO YOU PEOPLE NEED TO LOOK PAST COLUMBUS AND LOOK AT WHAT OTHER TEAMS ARE ACCOMPLISHING..AND YOU WILL SEE THAT YOU ARE NOT AS SPECIAL AS YOU THINK YOU ARE.

So you are saying that with your spectacular recruiting classes you haven't done squat right?

Given all those QBs you have to wonder where the championship trophies are hidden. Yep, the ducks have had some interesting teams, but they've been thin at all positions. Injuries cost them dearly each year. Sort of the Purdue of the Pac 10.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see the Ducks and Huskies shift the Pac 10 power north, but I don't see it happening any time soon.

The difference between Oregon and all the other school that have had a few years..we have nike..it was invented by a u of o trackster. We are building the most expensive college basketball arena in the country and that is what will get us our second national title in basketball within the next four years. The truth is that sports makes money for the university and we have the best all around conference..which is why oregon just won back to back track titles..and oregon state won back to back baseball titles. We are going to be huge we just dont live off our past as much as lOSUr and NOtre GAME..and you can buy my shirts that I sell the shhhh out of because the rest of the country hates OSU and Notre Dame because of the lack of here and now..and..instead..then and wow...oh and those shirts are trademarked with the gov..so dont be selling them..otherwise i will come for U.

oh and the pac 10 has the most national title out of any conference..

Quick piece of advice for you dumbass...don't register to flame and troll with an email address that contains your real name. It makes you very easy to find and very tempting to paste your personal life all over the net. For instance, you live in Idaho and you graduated from some college in Saskatchewan. Also, you are too old to be wearing your lame ass trucker's cap backwards, eh hoser?

However, this is your lucky day...you will not be McNeiled for a number of reasons. For one, LJB already kicked the hell out of you but mostly because nobody wants to read another drunken whiny opera from JXC.
