  • I know the Bucks season is over, but I thought there may be some interest in the College World Series. Northern teams didn't have very good results (outside of scUM). Here are results from round 1:

Michigan 11, Stetson 1 — Eric Rose and Nate Regnagel drove in three runs apiece and Paul Hammond pitched a six-hitter as Michigan eliminated Stetson in Atlanta yesterday.
After losing 7-5 to Georgia Tech , Stetson played Michigan an hour later, and the Wolverines jumped ahead with four runs in the second and put it out of reach with a five-run sixth.
Georgia Tech 7, Vanderbilt 3 — Lee Hyde took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and Michael Fisher had three hits as Georgia Tech remained unbeaten in Atlanta.
Vanderbilt (37-26) will face Michigan in an elimination game today.
San Francisco 5, Nebraska 1 — Aaron Poreda repeatedly worked out of trouble in his six-plus innings and San Francisco knocked No. 6 national seed Nebraska out of the NCAA Tournament in Lincoln, Neb.
Evansville 10, Lehigh 6 — Robbie Minor’s grand slam capped a seven-run rally in the bottom of the ninth inning for Evansville in Charlottesville, Va.
N . C . State 6, Texas - Arlington 5 — Matt Camp bunted home the winning run with two outs in the 10 th inning to cap North Carolina State’s come-frombehind victory in Austin, Texas.
The Wolfpack (39-22) trailed the elimination game 5-3 after six innings.
    N . C . Wilmington 21, Maine 19 — North Carolina-Wilmington eliminated Maine by winning a game that featured a combined 39 hits and 40 runs in Chapel Hill, N.C.
Kentucky 10, Notre Dame 4 — Shaun Lehmann homered and Greg Dombrowski pitched a complete game as Kentucky eliminated Notre Dame in Lexington, Ky.
It was the first tournament win in 18 years for Kentucky (43-16), the regional’s top seed.
Hawaii 5, Wright State 3 — Ian Harrington pitched a sixhitter and Robbie Wilder was 2 for 3 with a home run for Hawaii in Corvallis, Ore., eliminating Wright State.
Tulane 12, Bethune - Cookman 7 — Supported by four RBI by Nathan Southard, Billy Mohl extended his unbeaten senior season by leading Tulane over Bethune-Cookman in an elimination game in Oxford, Miss.
Clemson 13, Elon 3 — Taylor Harbin and Andy D’Alessio had two homers apiece as Clemson stayed unbeaten by defeating Elon in Clemson, S.C.
Mississippi State 5, North Carolina - Asheville 4 — Brian LaNinfa drove in all five runs, including three on a towering home run in the fifth, to keep Mississippi State alive.
Florida State 6, Georgia 4 — Travis Anderson’s three-run homer in the sixth sent Florida State to the finals in Athens, Ga., where it awaits the winner of today’s Georgia-Jacksonville game.
Stanford 12, Texas 8 — John Hester’s grand slam put Stanford ahead for good in the second inning, and the Cardinal held on to push defending champion Texas to the brink of elimination on its home field.
The Longhorns play North Carolina State today, and the winner of that game will have to beat Stanford twice to advance to a super regional.
North Carolina 14, Winthrop 4 — Jay Cox hit two home runs and a double, driving in four runs, to lead six Tar Heels with multiple hits in Chapel Hill, N.C.
Cox has nine RBI in the first two games of the regional.
Baylor 3, Arizona State 2 — Ryan LaMotta threw 140 pitches over the remaining eight innings of a suspended game to lead Baylor in Houston.

Michigan lost twice to Vandy, but picked up a nice win over stetson.

Notre Dame went 2 and out..Too many good bats in that regional for them to handle. ND has good pitching, but C of C and Kentucky can really hit.

Ball state had a great win over Kentucky, but lost their next two.

The Manhattan Jaspers knocked off Nebraska & USF, before finally being eliminated by Miami (fl). They did a great job.

That leaves Evansville as the cold weather champions..the Aces eliminated Virgina(15-4) and pounded South Carolina(15-5) to force a winner take all game on monday. The MVC is always a solid league......IMO, usually better than the B10 or Big East .
Wichita State is still alive too..they meet Oklahoma on Monday to settle the Norman regional

We were 3-6 vs teams that made postseason play. here is how they did...

    Lehigh-lost to Virgina 11-5 & lost to Evansville 10-6

Bethune Cookman-lost to Ole Miss 3-2 & Tulane 12-7..I watched BC play Tulane on TV, and i was impressed...a good win for us earlier this year

Michigan-lost to Vandy 5-2, beat Stetson 11-1, lost to Vandy 5-4

Jacksonville-Lost to FSU 18-0, beat Sacred Heart 4-3, lost to Georgia 15-8

    Missouri-lost to Pepperdine 3-2, beat UC-Irvine 5-4, beat UCLA 2-1, beat Pepperdine 4-1.

Missouri has been on fire down the stretch, and will play Peperdine on Monday to decide the Malibu regional. I think the Malibu was the most balanced regional..the close scores seem to reflect that as well. 4 of the first 6 games have been decided by 1 run !!!

Did you see that UNC-Bama game last night? Great game. Bama took the lead with a homer in the top of the 9th and UNC won it with a 2-out homer in the bottom. UNC is tough, with a starting 9 consisting of 8 freshmen/sophmores and 1 junior, plus Andrew Miller as their ace.
