The Bronx Is Burning Miniseries

Big Papa

Urban!!!!
Anyone else here been watching this miniseries on ESPiN? I have been DVR'ing it regularly and am within an episode or two of being caught up. I am really enjoying it. When I started watching it, I just expected it to be strictly about the Yankees. The back drop of the Son of Sam killings is really cool though. It also covers the blackout in NYC, the heat wave of that summer, etc. The actors that play Steinbrenner, Billy Martin and Thurman Munson are excellent. Since I was only 3-4 years old during this time, I really had no idea that things were that turbulant between Martin and Reggie Jackson. I also never knew that Munson was that vocal of a leader on that team. But, if you haven't seen the series and are a baseball fan, especially a fan of baseball history, you will like the series. Replays happen all the time, so I am sure you could catch up.

Not a damn Yankees fan but I love the show. I try to catch all of the reruns when I can. The guy that plays Billy Martin does an outstanding job.

I'm not a Yankees fan either, but I love the history of the game, so to a point, you have to respect the Yankees just because of their history and their success.

Yeah, John Turturro plays Billy and he does a fantastic job. I also think Oliver Platt is doing a nice job as Steinbrenner. Portraying either guy can't be easy because of their coloful personalities.
