There are few things worse than watching your team lose the lead with time expiring. Had Blake O’Neill merely fallen onto the ball after recovering his own dropped snap, the Michigan Wolverines would’ve likely beaten the Michigan State Spartans 23-21. Instead, he tried to be a hero and quick punt it, which caused another fumble, resulting in a 38-yard score for Michigan State. It’s hard to watch the final play from Saturday’s game and not feel at least some sympathy for the stunned crowd.

This was their national championship game. This will always be their national championship game, because they will never actually play for a national championship.
