That Was The Week That Was

Everybody is somebody else's weirdo.
No. 17 Wisconsin falls in opener to Western Illinois in shocking fashion

Shocker: NC State loses at home by 17 to William & Mary

North Florida topples Big Ten team again as it picks off Illinois

Georgia upset by Chattanooga in overtime on opening night

Belmont pulls out big road win at Marquette on opening night

Another shocking upset: Radford wins on last-second 3 at Georgetown

Opening weekend upsets continue: Va. Tech falls at home to SWAC school (Alabama State)

UCLA falls to Monmouth to end wacky day of upsets

None as monumental as this upset though (which was in football, not basketball):

Upsets everywhere, it's college basketball. There are a lot of crappy high major teams, and in any given year there are a lot of perceived mid-major or low-major teams that can beat them in a 1-game setting.

One interesting bit of trivia, I believe from when the Schott opened through 2014-15 at least, OSU never lost to a non-power conference team at home. Odd that you never hear that from the TV analysts considering they like to recite inane facts like that. Hopefully that trend will continue, knock on wood.

Of course I count ND as being in the Big East as they were in basketball back in the day. And they did lose a couple of exhibition games, but never a regular season home game to a non-power conference team since they moved to the Schott.

Calling games "upsets" before Thanksgiving can be a bit of a stretch. Seeing GW students storm the court cracked me up. Based on what? A poll before the season? :slappy:

That was payback for Thomas Jefferson's bitching about the Federalists.

Martha Washington often recalled the two saddest days of her life. The first was December 14, 1799 when her husband died. The second was in January 1801 when Thomas Jefferson visited Mount Vernon.
