Thanks Visiting Horns...

NFBuck

Total Coverage.
  • With the series wrapped up (for now anyway), seems like a good time to thank all the visiting UT posters for all their contributions to the board. High Lonesome, EngineerHorn and the like have been great ambassadors for their program. Hell, atleast xray was always worth a good laugh, and who didn't love Mili's responses back at him?
Best of luck from here on out and Hook 'Em!

Agreed! A big Bevo salute to you all.

Agreed, and I think that bchorn also deserves a mention.
Many of them do ... virtually all of them do. I know xrayrandy dropped a few gems and the banter with him could get pretty outlandish and/or personal, but his practice reports were terrific through the Spring and Fall. xray contributed a ton to the discussion and scouting of UT, and I think that was reflected by his having a positive rep despite some of the wild predictions.

I enjoyed talking to all of the UT fans who made it over here, and have adopted UT as one of my favorite teams because of them.

UT is without a doubt the best overall fanbase with whom we have interacted...

No doubt...I left a drunken thank you in the Texas thread, but it is obviously now buried. Let me restate how fun it's been having our Texas friends here. I was a Texas fan before this series, I am a bigger Texas fan now. It has been a pleasure. Hope you guys stick around...

The following is a story from the newspaper about a friend of mine (long time Buckeye fan) that has brain cancer and was able to go to the game in Austin. He was treated very well by the Texas fans.

Ailing Buckeye fan gets prime view of big game, with UT fan's help.

With their colors, college football fans say everything about where their loyalties lie.
On Saturday night, amid the sea of thousands who filled Royal-Memorial Stadium, ardent Ohio State fan Roy Thrush traded his beloved scarlet and gray for burnt orange for reasons both practical and heartfelt.
The 56-year-old wore a University of Texas hat to hide a large scar across the back of his head. Thrush has terminal brain cancer.
He donned the UT hat, too, out of gratitude to his Austin hosts who got him and his wife, Connie, luxury box views for the biggest football game of the season.
"We're speechless at everything that's been done for us," said Thrush, a pharmaceutical executive who lives in Birmingham, Ala. "I'm a very grateful guest."
Thrush was diagnosed with cancer in October and recently underwent treatment that gives him a 50 percent chance of living another 13 months. His wife, Connie, who works for GlaxoSmithKline in Birmingham, said her co-workers wanted to do something special for the couple.
Knowing that the Thrushes were Ohio natives and have been Buckeye fans "forever," the co-workers raised money for airfare, hotel and two general admission tickets to the showdown between Texas and Ohio State in Austin.
Then they got a big assist from a UT fan, who got them even better prime luxury box seats.
"My cousin works at the (GlaxoSmithKline) branch in Birmingham, and he called and asked if my dad could get tickets," said Dak Poss, a GlaxoSmithKline employee from Sugar Land whose father, Max, is a member of the Longhorn Foundation. "Tickets were hard to come by for this game, but (Max Poss) was able to pull some strings."
Thrush said he and his family were touched by the outpouring of support from their friends and UT fans.
Dak and Max Poss met the Thrushes for the first time Saturday morning.
"You tend to take day-to-day life for granted, but this has made us realize how truly blessed we are," Thrush said with a twinkle in his eye and a resolve in his voice that said he isn't done fighting.
"I don't buy the odds," Thrush said. "If I did, I'd be at home crying in my beer instead of being here in Texas."
Max Poss said he was happy to see such support between fans who might normally be rivals.
"I think this is exactly what people mean when they say 'Texas is proud of its fans,' " he said.

An enthusiastic second to all the above plus thanks for the southern hospitality shown to our Buckeye brethren at the game also. My measure of admiration for the program can be summed up by saying I was jumping up and down after VY scored that final touchdown against USC almost, I say ALMOST, as much as if it was the Buckeyes taking the lead for the final time.

I watched the game in Vegas at Ceasar's Palaces sportsbook and I have to say the Texas fans are by far the nicest, classiest, most objective fans I have ever spoken to. I had several offers for beers after we won and numerous congrats. Last year every UT fan I spoke to was great also. I have not heard of any buckeyes having any trouble down in Austin and I did not expect to. Now if only Michigan and Wisky fans could take notes. I am sad to say that we have several fans that also need to take some notes. I think this UT experience may help out a lot. Thanks UT for a great series. I honestly feel like the history books are being writen and we have reversed the script for this year. Go bucks and hookem' horns. Oh ya...I did run into a couple of Oklahoma fans and they were complete a**holes to us bucks fans.
