Thad Matta (3x B1G COY, OSU's All Time Winningest Coach, HC Butler)

[BayBuck]

Brian Snow says it’s not happening. Curious if he has any more years left where he has to “search” for a job due to buyout terms. Either way, the guy seems damn happy in retirement.

Maybe Beilein takes it.

I believe Matta’s last contract and monthly buyout payments expired in June of this year, so that “job search” requirement has expired too.

Gofundme to send him to Panama to get some stem cells in his foot so we can hire him back?

Is this Thad's burner account?

Back at Hinkle supporting his pal Jeff Boals and Ohio.

Also, Rivals just dropped this news which..??? Not sure how factual but timing of story getting out and Thad being out in public tonight might make sense.

I feel like Thad wasn’t serious and played the sources, though.

Yeah, Zach Osterman has the goods. Someone at Rivals got punk’d.

Says those reports are “wide of the mark.”

I mean, it seems fairly outrageous to think this would be done this late in the process.

Thad has nerve damage. He doesn't even walk well, and probably shouldn't coach again unless there has been some dramatic medical breakthrough.

I read this as Thad being there to coach the coach, keep them compliant and be the recruiting "GM". Basically set up a program and let the coach, coach.

Seems like a damn smart use of the talents of a guy like Thad while minimizing his weaknesses (health).

[OHSportsFan]

This is such a damn good fit for him.

Gets his great basketball mind back in the game without the day-to-day coaching grind.

You’re essentially hiring him to show Woodson the ropes of running a college program- managing things that he probably didn’t need to in the NBA. IU was intrigued by the TTUN model of Juwan Howard (NBA) who got paired with Phil Martelli (30+ years college experience).

Not to mention you have a very well-respected name connecting you to high schools/coaches/recruits- especially in Indiana, Ohio and Illinois. And he’s done it the right way. People love Thad.

I hate how perfect this is for him.

(Woodson still has to coach and recruit though and those returns are “average” and “unknown” so far)

Thank you couch Matta

@Jaxbuck hit it right on the head

[NFBuck]

Going back home again. Will take over as HC for Butler. Hope he knocks it out of the park.

Good for him. Good fit. Hope he’s healthy and happy.

Gets him away from IU too.
