Former UT coach Darrell Royal dies

AUSTIN -- Darrell Royal, the legendary coach who won three national championships, turned the wishbone offense into one of college football's most unstoppable forces and served as the face of the Texas Longhorns for more than a half century, has died in Austin, the school confirmed Wednesday.

He was 88.

Earlier this year, Royal and his wife Edith announced he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and had created a research fund to fight the disease.

A member of the College Football Hall of Fame, Royal was not only a leader and innovator, but also an ambassador of the game. His bits of wisdom included the phrases, "Dance with the one that brung ya," and, "Act like you've been there before," and even after retiring from coaching at the young age of 52, he remained one of the most adored and respected figures in the state throughout his life.

Again I ask...why is Texas ranked?

Please hang on, cholly The Shaggy meltdown would be EPIC.
Would have to say the billion dollar ESPN deal has a lot to do with that.

The media poll having more weight in the new BCS formula will become a big time factor.

The times are a changin'
