High School Texas High School Stadium Pictures

From what I've seen, and its kinda of wierd when you think of it, usually the older the school is, the nicer the stadium.

I know, that sounds kinda stupid, but if you look at all the nicer stadiums in the city, they are the one's like East, West, South, Linden, ect. All made from concrete and are in the best shape, even though they are so old. The newer one's, that weren't made like the old one's just look bad.

except that northland was built in the 60's and is one of the last city league schools to be built. The built it on top of a swamp, so I guess the land was cheap enough for a concrete stadium

BTW do you know if East still plays it b-ball games on its stage? Boy did that suck.

Wow, but so unnecessary. I mean, why does a high school need luxary boxes? Why does a high school need a sports arena that seats 12,000 people?

NOT unnecessary. We had 11,000 for a district game (not even a playoff game) this year. Lots of playoff games are held at Texas Stadium (where the Cowboys play) and crowds of 30K are not unheard of there. two big powers met in the playoffs at Texas Stadium a couple of years back and there were over 50K in attendance!

most folks who move here are just stunned at the breadth and depth of high school football fever here (and are quickly caught up in it). high school football is WAY more important here than college ball -- and the state loves college football passionately.

The craziest thing i've seen here is when Celina and Mart played at Texas Stadium in Dallas.

It was the 2-A State Championship......

That means both of these schools come from very small towns with less than 300 students in them....and maybe the town size of 2,000 or 3,000 people.

The game had close to 40,000 fans at the game at Texas Stadium......

The depth here is crazy...it's not just the large schools...even the smaller schools are just as good.

I think where Texas sets itself apart from other states.....in probably the larger divisions there are states that could match up well with the top teams......but when you get down in the lower divisions...I think this is where Texas sets itself apart from the rest.

And, even in the larger school divisions....there are just so many teams that are good.......we have 250 5-A schools......and about 240 4-A schools........

They are rebuilding East. They are tearing down the school and moving the students to where the old North High School used to be(On Arcadia) for two years while they rebuild. Alot of the people in the Clintonville area are how shall I say it, basically scared of the kids that are coming from the eastside.

I've heard from a teacher at my school this year that they are keeping the classic design of the big concrete steps infront of the school, but are tearing down the rest. I guess it is planned to be a $30 million, 3 story building with a octogon shape, also its all glass.

I didn't know of the b-ball games in the auditorium until this year. I saw a article in the Dispatch about it. It was real interesting.

Talked about how the stage wasn't big enough for a regulation size high school court, and was actually narrower and shorter than a regular court. Players would be shoting at the 3-point line and the out-line was like 2 feet away. Also players running for a loose ball would sometimes run off the stage. It was a real home advantage for East.

Some people were sad to see it go. It said that the auditorium is to be turned into a new band room. I guess they aren't tearing down that part(?). I also guess that means East will get a real gym at the school.

When I said sports arena, I meant a basketball arena. They showed one that had a huge video scoreboard that could be lowered down to the court. I think that is just absurd.

Reminding me of this thread, my good friend is driving through Texas right now and he calls me out of the blue to tell me he sees lights in the distance, thinking it was a baseball stadium. As he gets closer he realizes it's a Texas high school stadium being built. Apparently the city of Rockwall is building some monster stadium and the city of Royce already built one. Here is the picture for Royce. He said the press box was 3 stories, 100 feet above the field. He's right...

picture here

This is the link to nearly every Texas high school football stadium's picture.

Pretty cool pictures for a lot of them. Odessa, Texas teams play on a field with a capacity of almost 18,000.

Texas def. has the best HS stadiums.

But doesn't Massillon (might be a diff. HS) have a stadium and practice field that is just as good? Never been there but I remember seeing a story about it.

Canton McKinley Senior High School Bulldogs have a pretty good stadium:

at Fawcett Stadium

Texas town building $56 million High School football stadium

A price of $59.6 million might sound like a lot of money for Allen?s new football stadium, set to open in 2012. But this is Texas, and Allen won the state 5A-I title in 2008. Construction costs were approved Monday by the Allen school board. The stadium will seat 18,000, including 5,000 reserved seats. That ties it for the fifth-largest high school stadium in the state. Allen?s current stadium, built in 1976, has 7,000 seats. In recent years, temporary bleachers for 7,000 additional seats have been rented at a cost of $225,000 a year. ?That?s Texas for you,? said Chester E. Finn Jr., president of the Thomas B. Fordham Institute, a Washington, D.C., education think tank. ?This is, of course, ridiculous in a period of tight money, and the explanation will be that this is dedicated money and can?t be spent on other things. ? But I?m not a bit surprised. If it were Indiana, it would be a basketball arena. ?I don?t think it?s the arms race exactly. I think it?s more of satisfying the community, almost an amenity like a community center. It?s not a bad thing to do, but it?s a very, very weird time to do it.?
