thats a huge loss to the longhorns, my first reaction is to be happy because it gives us a better chance to win this game, but after i thnik about it i want alll that texas has, no excuses i want both of us to bring our "A" game

Academic woes prevent 3 UT players from reporting

AUSTIN - Three Texas football players didn't check in with the rest of the team on Sunday, including freshman running back Henry Melton of Grapevine, sophomore offensive lineman Kyle Thornton of St. Mark's and junior defensive end Mike Williams.
All three players have academic issues that need to be resolved before they become eligible. The Longhorns begin fall practices on Monday.
"I have some academic issues that are being addressed, and I'll report as soon as possible," said Melton, adding that he still holds out hope of becoming eligible while awaiting an appeal through the NCAA Clearinghouse.
Thornton, a backup offensive lineman, and Williams appear as though they'll miss the season.
Williams, who recorded six sacks in 2003 before missing the 2004 season with academic issues, said, "I'm eligible to return to school but not to participate with the team. All of my focus will continue to be on academics and I'll make a decision about my future once I get that taken care of."

I don't really give a damn which players they do or do not bring. As long as Mack Brown is eligible for the game we'll be fine

This was predicted a while back, I think it was even discussed in the texas thread. Williams was the only one who could see PT, and he was a pass rusher. That leaves them thinner here, but its not like them losing one of their stud DTs.
