Terror plot thwarted by murder case

LUDOWICI, Ga. (AP) ? Four Army soldiers based in southeast Georgia killed a former comrade and his girlfriend to protect an anarchist militia group they formed that stockpiled assault weapons and plotted a range of anti-government attacks, prosecutors told a judge Monday.

Prosecutors in rural Long County, near the sprawling Army post Fort Stewart, said the militia group composed of active duty and former U.S. military members spent at least $87,000 buying guns and bomb components and was serious enough to kill two people ? former soldier Michael Roark and his 17-year-old girlfriend, Tiffany York ? by shooting them in the woods last December in order to keep its plans secret.

"This domestic terrorist organization did not simply plan and talk," prosecutor Isabel Pauley told a Superior Court judge. "Prior to the murders in this case, the group took action. Evidence shows the group possessed the knowledge, means and motive to carry out their plans."

The rest of their plan sounded completely idiotic. It involved taking over Fort Stewart. What exactly was their escape plan there, or did they think they could actually hold it indefinitely? Did they think "hey, once we take it over I am sure the US government won't mind. It's not like they have the largest and most advanced military in the world." On top of all of that, Fort Stewart is huge and happens to be populated with military personnel. I am not sure there are many countries that could pull it off let alone these jackasses.

They were going to poison apple crops? What the heck did these idiots even know about apples, farming apples, using a poison that would actually last to market, etc?

Now, they are obviously murderers. That much is clear and I hope they rot in the jail while being constantly raped for the rest of their lives. Yet their supposed terrorist plans sounded pretty laughable. The only thing they could have pulled off was bombing the statue and maybe killing the president. I still doubt these idiots could have pulled that off.
