Yeah, this is fun and all, but really does it matter? Our amazing 2002 class has helped bring both a national title...and one of the most embarrassing 3 game stretches in OSU history...

You forgot to mention they are 2-1 vs SCUM so far.......I forgot thats a positive comment....that sort of thing escapes you.

osu moved up 60 points solely based on ryan williams moving from 3* #14 DE to 4* #13 DE. Interesting.

osu's * average is what is really impressive. If you look at most recruiting years, anything above 3.5 is considered very good.

My guess is osu ends somewhere around 2-5*, 9-4*, 8-3*

with the final 3 4* being wells, mccoy and one other.

the 5 3* being r. wilson, rowell, and any combination of smalls, ringer, hodge, laurinatis, lennix, russell, and/or a few others.

Latest is that Alex Daniels has us as his favorite with OU.

I didnt have that sense about him prior to the Michigan game.... The bucks may end up with him in the fold after all.... The other kid that may end up being a big suprise get is Jonathen Stewart. For Stewart his spirtual life plays an active role in his life.... Tressel has a very good reputation with kids from this kind of back ground. The Key will be to get an official visit.

Recruiting Class National Ranking

I tried to do a search, but came up with nothing...

The Bucks have to be hauling in one of the top classes in the nation again (I've heard 2nd through 5th). Is there a website that has an up-to-date ranking of the projected recruiting classes based on their current list of verbals?

Actually, I'm kind of surprised that the board doesn't have a link posted as a "stinky". Although, there is a very realistic possibility that I'm just plain missing it.

Stinky? Is that like smell-o-vision...only on the internet?

The more regularly updated ranking list as of 11-29-04 has Nebraska taking on the # 1 spot with 1648 points to a total of 1555 for Virginia.

The only "ranked" commits Nebraska accepted in that time span from the list with 18 to their current total of 20 verbals are RB Cody Glenn and DT Lorenzo Jones.
Both are rated 3* players with RR of 5.6 and 5.5 respectively and position ranks of 27 and 36 respectively. Another commit was Barry Cryer a 3* NR DT.

This push helped Big Red add 130 points to their Rivals total.

Its neve clear to me how those points at rivals are computed.

Does make me wonder though what impact the likes of Spitler has on our total. Note - the ranking above linked does not reflect Spitler's commit.

I'll take quality over quantity any day! Look at the average on those lists for the quality of the players we're getting-3.91. Also I think Lenix and Ringer are much better than 3 star players getting dinged for their grades.

Its neve clear to me how those points at rivals are computed.

i was curious about this as well, so I did a little digging on the matter. all i could ascertain is this:

5* are worth around 200 points, plus a few more for position rank.
4* are worth anywhere from around 95 to about 110 depending on position and rank in that position (for example a 4* rb ranked 5th at his position would likely be about 105 points, whereas a 4* OL ranked #5 at OG would be about 100 points). Extra points are added if the recruit is in the top 100 overall.
3* players value varies the most. a 5.7 3* is likely to generate about 40 points at most. a 5.4 or 5.5 can generate anywhere in the low teens to the twenties.

I found this out by looking at the team rankings and finding teams that only had one player at a position. i then did recruiting rankings by position to see where that player ranked.

EX) OSU is getting around 98-100 points for Shoenhoft, and the smae for Denlinger.

USC is getting around 208 for Sanchez. PSU is getting about the smae for King.

I still think there is some subjectivity in rivals allotment of points.

Thanks tsteele - that rough math helps make clearer the points system at rivals.

Good news for those wanting bragging rights on recruiting classes -- many of the players tOSU still seeks are in that higher echelon. We could end up with a truly studly number while giving fewer schollies than many other programs this year.

Perhaps we need a vBet/Poll on this?
