Agree with this. I did Half Dome a few years back. The start of the hike was steep and all I could think was - "Did I make the right decision?" It settled down once we made it to the unpaved area. The part right before the cables was the worst though, due to the rocks you had to try and use at steps.

I am usually good with elevation until I hit around 10K, then I really feel it and slow down quite a bit.

this one is unpaved the entire way.
and yeah when we stopped for our first (of several) breaks we were both really questioning if why the hell we ever decided to try this.

the terrain was a lot rougher near the top, but was not much of an incline at that point, so it wasn't terrible. Except we were already freaking exhausted.

Why does the U.S. post office have that mini obelisk topper up there?

Asking for me, I don’t have friends.

I had to look it up.
according to Wikipedia:

A stainless steel pyramid marks the summit. It was erected by American Airlines in 1958 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Butterfield Overland Mail, a stagecoach route that passed south of the mountain. One side of the pyramid has the American Airlines logo. The second side displays a U.S. Postal Service tribute to the Pony Express Riders of the Butterfield Stage. The third side displays a compass with the logo of the Boy Scouts of America.

got the final score for the tOSU/Pedo State game while up there. :oh::io:

unfortunately, she was with a Tennessee fan. :tibor:

Awesome. I hiked up Guadalupe Peak a few years ago. I'm getting too old for it. one of the few hikes I almost quit on the way up. but I made it up and it was amazing.
