Take Your Child to Work

Maybe Medina doesn't have "Take your child to work" day. I haven't seen a kid all day. Not that I'm complaining. One lady brings her daughters to work in the afternoon sometimes. I find it weird, but she works on the other side of the building, so they don't bother me. But sometimes they walk around whining about stuff, so I laugh at them.

I think it is a stupid day. As Thump said if it is that important then have it in the summer.

Although I did have to laugh when I got back from class a little bit ago and the apartment complex has a bunch of kids cleaning up trash and dog shit out of the grass.

there are few days at work i dislike more. this coming from someone who 3 times this year will have to work a month without a day off.

i have 3 that are running up and down the cubes, one 4 cubes down is crying, another across the way is screaming for his/her mommy.

edit: the one across the cube is argueing with his father over whether or not he can erase half his whiteboard. ive got to remember to take this day off next year *sigh*

Why doesn't the employer have something set up to entertain the kids all day?

They hooked the kids up here. They all won a prize or two. They all got to make their own pizza and stromboli in the test kitchen. And then they got to tour the plant where they make the dough for almost 200 stores. They basically kept them busy all day long.

The purpose of the day isn't to keep them busy but rather have it be an educational day where they learn about occupations.

Well shit, if that's the purpose, why not chain them to a chair and shove them into a cubicle for 10 hours? Have some jackass come by and start random conversations periodically, just to get on their nerves every hour or two. Then, when their eyelid starts twitching, call an emergency meeting where they bitch at you for 45 minutes for something that some other manager screwed up. Yeah kids, THAT'S what having a job is like!

Enjoy high school and college, because once that's over, your life's gonna suck.......

You forgot about my favorite part: They give you a paycheck for X dollars, but then they deduct money for this and this and some for this, and soon you have barely 50% of what you had, originally.

yeeeeeeeaaaaaahhh... did you get that memo?

or when dev sends you code to put into production only they can't tell you what changes they made. then get pissed off at you when you can't tell them what dev contacts you will need for the deployment because you don't know what changes were made to the code... :smash:

What a waste of a day. The kid isn't learning squat, and the parent isn't getting any work done, either.

Wouldn't it be more beneficial for everyone if we changed it to a kids' Take Your Parents to School Day?

I'd love to take my elementary and high school history classes over again, now that I actually give a shit and would pay attention.

I disagree....

I used to take the all the managers kids and give them all shitload of rubber bands and haev them "attack" the people in my group....

Now... the people in my group were younger and would "fight" back...

But... this is important stuff as far as learning small unit tactics... covering fire in an urban setting and how to attack an entrenched enemy....

This will serve them especially well in 40 years when, because they follwed in their parents footsteps... their trite and meaningless exixtence causes them go postal -- and now they'll get more bang for they're buck in a cubicle environment.

The HS my kids went to had a day where parents could attend. My wife went every year, and I went a couple of times. I was always the only parent in the room, and I believe my wife was also.

Does not compute... different classrooms?

One year I went to our son's classes, and she went to our daughter's. Other times, we each went on different half-days; we never both went to the class.
