Tailgate Podcast: Everything you need to know to watch the Ohio State vs. Western Michigan game

Before every Ohio State football game, Matt Tamanini will get you ready with all of the information that you need for that day’s game on the “Land-Grant Tailgate” podcast.

I picked the Buckeyes to shut out Akron last week, and I am going to that well for a second time in as many weeks, as — for the second week in a row — I am picking OSU to win 56-0. I think that after the emotions and rust wore off early in the game, the Buckeye defense looked to be at the epic level I believe it should be.
On offense, I still believe that the offensive line is an issue, but trust in Chip Kelly’s ability to process the film and make the necessary adjustments to improve the running game. The cliche is that a football team’s biggest jumps are between Weeks 1 and 2, and I hope that’s the case for this offensive line.
Nonetheless, Wisconsin was a very balanced 192 passing yards and 196 rushing last week against Western Michigan, and in 2023, the Broncos were 109th nationally in scoring defense, and in the mid-80s in total defense, rushing defense, and passing defense.
So, I think that Will Howard will have an excellent day, throwing for over 300 yards and three scores before giving way to Devin Brown and Julian Sayin.
I also will predict that the OSU running backs will have a banner day with three guys going for over 100 yards from scrimmage; of course, those will be TreVeyon Henderson, Quinshon Judkins (who will do it all on the ground), and James Peoples.
Jeremiah Smith will add another pair of touchdowns to his total, as will Emeka Egbuka. And for my final trick, I am predicting that Ohio State will not punt a single time during today.
So, if you put that all into a blender, it spits out a score of 56-0, in favor of the good guys.
Will Howard: 300+ yards passing and 3 touchdowns
TreVeyon Henderson, Quinshon Judkins, James Peoples: 100 yards from scrimmage each
Jeremiah Smith, Emeka Egbuka: Two touchdowns apiece.
Ohio State special teams: 0 punts
