Not to defend a journalist, but if the title games or the awards came after Jan 1, that might be what the year discrepancies are (kinda like saying a team won the 1985 Super Bowl, though the season was 1984). It's just a possibility.<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->
Bucklion, The NC in 1967 was awarded before the bowl games. O.J.'s Heisman was awarded in early December, 1968. The AP NC for the 1968 season was actually awarded after the 1-1-69 Rose Bowl (tOSU 27, USC 16). All AP titles since that year have been after the bowl games.

So both his references for USC's NC and O.J.'s Heisman were actual mistakes. I haven't received an e-mail response from Fiu yet.

However, the online article's now been updated. He probably got a lot of e-mails about this. Now it's correct:

USC's five greatest running backs
1) O.J. Simpson - Before he became an NFL legend, a ground-breaking advertising pitchman and a tireless searcher for his wife's murderer, Simpson was one of the greatest college football players of all-time. He should've been the first two-time Heisman winner cranking out a 1,543-yard, 13 touchdown junior season leading USC to the 1967 national title. He won the 1968 Award by the largest margin ever after a 1,880-yard, 23 touchdown campaign.

I was looking through the upcoming roster…….. do we need this many FB’s?>>

As far as I know, Anderson, Fender, Franzinger, and Miller are all walk-ons and thus will not likely see the field.

Of the rest Joe and Schnittker are 1 and 2 on the depth chart. White is not really a true fullback, more of an H-back playing a hybrid FB/TE role of some sort. Johnson is an incoming freshman who is likely to be redshirted. The way I see it, in scholarship players we really will only be 2 deep on true fullbacks with white as a situational player who can fill in at FB or TE when necessary. It will stay that way next year when Joe graduates and Johnson loses the redshirt label.
