Super Bowl XLV: Steelers vs. Packers(-2.5)

OMG. This has to be one of the worst pregame National Anthems. I absolutely feel like she butchered it so that she could put on a "performance" instead. You never - EVER - should do that to the National Anthem.

It would be extremely hard for me to hold my salute (if I were in uniform) for that shitty rendition at the game. I would also find a way to have a few choice words with Christina.

I think she just blew the words, a la Macie Gray.

yep

Words fail us.
As apparently they did Christina Aguilera, who followed Glee's Lea Michele's "America the Beautiful" by muffing the words to the "Star Spangled Banner" before the biggest audience in the world big game.
The offense? She replaced "o'er the ramparts we watched" with "what so proudly we watched," which you might have missed unless you were checking your Twitter account or are really good with the lyrics.
To be fair, it's a stressful gig, a difficult song and, frankly, hard to tell exactly what the heck she was singing in some of the showier parts, but let's cut her some slack, huh? At least it was better than Roseanne's back in the day, right?

Rodgers has been at his hotel all week studying game film.

Fat-ass from Pennsylvania goes out for drinks with teamates.

Their team is just as arrogant and entitled as their insufferable fans. I'm going to enjoy the results on the field.

Go Pack!

Indeed. :drunks:

AJ Hawk just did an interview on ESPN with Boomer and the guys.

About time they jump off of Matthews pole and realize who the captain is. I can't believe they even let Matthews on the stage post-game.

As much as I like AJ Hawk and think he's severely underrated around the league, I think Matthews is deserving of the hype he gets. I thought he had a really good game last night, despite not having the flashy plays he usually has. He's really a great player.

The writer is clearly bitter over Arizona's SB loss but does make some good points. "Stiller fan" won't like it at all, of course.

I'm not a Steeler fan, but I'm not a Steeler hater either. The Steelers get where they're at because they have an organization that values winning and knows how to go about it. Compare that with the Cardinals, Bengals and Browns.

Yeah, Rothlesberger is a POS, but name one team without at least one on the roster. Professional sports -- figure skating perhaps exempted -- are not a place to look for choir boys. You have to accept that when you become a fan.

As for the rest of the article; we can no longer be politically correct and write blatant ethnic slams on African Americans, Italians, Indians (both branches) Arabs, Persians, Jews, Orientals or Germans, but we can still slam the hell out of Appalachians and Mid-Western hicks.

The writer needs to go eat some more Peyote buttons and fantasize about a Cardinals team that wants to win something.

Appalachians and Mid-Western hicks are not an ethnic group.

Most annoying version of the national anthem I've ever heard.

I hate it when a good singer screws up a great song - oh well

Yeah, she tried to do way too much with it and it just ended up sounding awful.

The thing that irks me the most is that the National Anthem isn't even a song. Its something that less than 1% of America will post up, go to attention, render all attention to and live their daily life for. You don't [censored] with the National Anthem, it means too much!

This is exactly the reason I leave the room before a famous singer/band "performs" the National Anthem. I absolutely loathe it when they try to put their own spin on the song...it's not a fucking concert, you're singing our nation's anthem. And then not even knowing the words...beyond pathetic.
