I'm of the portly variety :wink2: (although I have dumped some weight... roughly 35 pounds over the last couple of months, and roughly 45-50 over the last year... I took a break put some weight on, then refocused on my weight loss effort).

I like two button over three button... loose over "shaped"... and def. comfy...

A tailor was able to salvage a couple of my suits as well as a few pairs of slacks... unfortunately my navy suit is too big, there's nothing they can do unless I want to pay them a few hundred to cut it up and start from scratch. The material is ok, however not high enough grade to warrant that type of cash infusion. The consensus was to shop for a new suit.

I'm well aware of fitting the suit to your shoulders. I must have a very weird body structure... they always fit to the shoulders, bring in the upper back, and let out the lower portion. I need an "L" due to my gorilla arms, and they tend to have to let even more sleeve out from the "L"... I get taken to the woodshed due to alterations (always have been... darn body structure)...

The Italian brands are typically way too small (a lot of them don't have enough material for the alterations and are a no-go), although I tend to try them on for giggles sake (fat man in a little suit... Tommy boy:slappy: )

I'll need to check out Bluefly and Sierra Trading Post. I assume these are online retailers??? A quick yahoo search will answer my question. I'm sure I'll have more questions if I spot a "good deal" with a brand I'm not familiar with.

How are Arnold Brandt, Southwick, Alfred Dunhill, Gianluca Napoli, Giampaolo Desanti...

Ah - looks like someone was on STP! For what you describe above, your best bet among these would probably be Southwick. Usu made in US, and are of the sack variety. Good quality - better than Brandt. Dunhill is good too, but may be too fitted. Ditto for the Italian models.
