Pickpocket seized at German police Christmas party Fri Dec 23, 9:12 AM ET

BERLIN (Reuters) - Police in Berlin made their easiest arrest of the year at their annual Christmas party, after spotting a man rummaging through the pockets of their coats in the cloakroom.

Officers of the Federal Police criminal investigations unit said the unlucky pickpocket had not known that the revellers in a Berlin brewery were law enforcers.

"He was definitely surprised," said a police spokesman in Berlin. "He did not realise who he was dealing with."

Confronted with 35 officers, the 45-year-old Albanian, who police said held a forged passport and was wanted for other offences, offered no resistance.

Polite Bank Robber Waits to Be Arrested Thu Dec 22, 6:30 PM ET



BUFFALO, N.Y. - A polite bank robber was ordered evaluated at a Buffalo hospital after taking $50 and waiting for police to arrest him.

"Please give me $50 so I can go to jail," the 32-year-old man's note to a teller said. "No one will get hurt and I will wait for the police outside. Sorry for the inconvenience."

The teller complied and the man calmly waited in the lobby of the HSBC Bank branch to be arrested Wednesday, police said.

The man's name was not immediately released by police. The results of the evaluation were not available early Thursday.

I've heard of homeless folks doing this in the winter... somthing like that will get them a warm bed and hot meal over the winter (prob. longer)... I hope for their sake, their cellmate isn't big bubba who has a crush on them...
