Student ticket procedure

Some questions concerning student tickets if I could. My son and niece will be starting at tOSU this year. I know students are able to get 1 ticket with a season pass. I also read that they can give their tickets to their parents without the use of a student ID. So theorically my niece could give her tickets to her father and I could get my sons and I could go to the game and sit with my brother? Do I need to provide any ID to support that he is my son? How do my niece and my son get tickets together? Are the seat assignments handed out on a per game basis or do they have the same seats every game?

Thanks for any help anyone can offer. Sorry for all the questions but this is new and very exciting the my family.

1. Anybody can use a any BuckID with a student ticket and get into the game. Even if they are your child, I'm pretty sure you would still need their (or anybody else's-really it doesn't matter whose it is) BuckID.

2. I can't exactly remember the timing for freshmen receiving football tickets and seating arrangement. However, for upperclassmen, you generally bought your tickets around April 1st, and then sometime over the summer (maybe early June) they would send out an email about creating a seating group. Now when we were on quarters, you would create your group for the 'in-school' season package and then you would have to re-create your group for each of the 'out-of-school' games as well.

However, seeing as the students will be in school for the entirety of the season, I'm sure they will have the option of buying all of the tickets and just creating one group.

I think I remember ordering tickets as a freshman at the beginning of summer and then doing my ticket group shortly after. I don't believe they were done at the same time (could be wrong). So, I think those will still be two separate operations. They will probably buy tickets first and then receive an email shortly thereafter about the creating of seating groups.

Hope this helps. Tell them to enjoy the next four years, undoubtedly they're going to be some of the best in their lives.

Wow! Thanks for the quick reply. I will tell them to enjoy the next years but it will be way more than 4. My son is going pre-med. Going to be a long journey.

I would love to go with my wife to a game and sit with her. She has never been in the shoe. I am hoping to somehow get tickets from my son and my niece to one of the games. Hopefully being able to sit together.

For me, I haven't been to see a game since... wow... like 1989 or so. Back then I could just scalp single tickets and then get inside and sit with whoever I went with. I am guessing this is no longer possible. Seemed back then you just could sit wherever as long as you had a seat into the game.

Looking forward to the next few years where I hopefully have ticket connections.

FWIW, I think because of the semester switch, they're on a different schedule now. I think I saw rank 4+ student buy them first, and that's at the beginning of June.

Thanks all. I did see the .pdf on tickets. I guess at this time my only question would be would I have any options to get my sons ticket and somehow have one of his roomates or someone else get a ticket to allow me to sit by my wife for the game. How are his seats determined as far as sitting with friends? Also, if she would go with me and get one his friends tickets how closely do they check BuckID for her? Hopefully if he got his roomates ticket and I took his while my wife got his roomates she could get in with his Buck ID.

In my experience they've never checked BuckID's closely. At most you just need to flash it at the gate. They can't take the time to compare the names and faces when they're trying to get 30,000 students into the game in a short amount of time.

They do not check BuckIDs very closely at the gates. If they were to ask about it, I am pretty sure you can use a "family members" BuckID for the student ticket. So, a quick "this is my son's BuckID" would work.

Seats are determined by the class rank of your son. (1 = freshman...4 = senior) He will need to create a group when purchasing tickets to sit with his friends. His friends will then need to get the "group name" and "password" to join the group before purchasing the tickets. Where the group sits is determined by the lowest rank in the group. If you have 3 seniors and 1 freshman in your group expect to sit with the freshman.
