Student Tasered at campus forum for Kerry

Fighting with the cops?? I have seen the video and never saw him "fighting" with the cops. Was he still talking when his time was over and resisting being asked to step down, yes. Did the cops have the right to tell him he was done and possibly even escort him out, probably, but taser the kid?? That was excessive. He was not physically attacking any of them. His actions were not threatening. There was like 4-5 of them and they were not in any immediate risk for harm.

Well, this is Florida... I mean... god help the poor kid if he had been threatening... those cops would have punched that chad.

No... it probably was excessive... but, I don't feel a bit bad for the kid because he intended to make a scene of things... and.. I probably only agree on the "excessive" part because I don't really trust tasers... but... if they had pepper sprayed him, I wouldn't have a problem with it. Point is, if he's resisting, the cops have to take control of the situation, and the kid didn't comply, so something was going to happen.

Definitely, they had to get control of the situation, and you're right, he did intend to cause drama for whatever ridiculous blog he probably has.

Somebody from the school had to ask the police to remove him. Once they do that, the police are giving him a lawfull order to leave and stop causing a disturbance. When he refused to do that...time for the juice. Using a taser on someone is actually lower on the Use of Force Standard than going hands on.

Bottom line...he wanted attention and he got it..

Man I love a good taser video. The kid wanted a good video and he got it. They should have blasted him about a half dozen times and really shut him up. Bottem line, this isn't a free speech issue. This is a dumbass kid getting what he deserved issue.

I found some of the quotes in here to be pretty telling..

"As (Meyer) was escorted down stairs (at the University Auditorium) with no cameras in sight, he remained quiet, but once the cameras made their way down stairs he started screaming and yelling again," Mallo wrote. (Police Report)

Mallo also wrote in her report that he asked, at one point, if cameras would be present at the jail.

The report details the events leading up to Meyer's arrest, saying that Meyer was in line to ask a question of Sen. Kerry when it was decided that no more questions would be allowed.

Meyer continued down the aisle toward Sen. Kerry angrily, according to police, saying he wanted the senator to answer his question because he had been waiting for two hours.

Though Sen. Kerry directed that Meyer be allowed to ask his question, police reported that Meyer did not ask any specific question and instead "badgered" the senator, and at one point said something about President Clinton being impeached over a sexual act.

The officers were then able to fully handcuff Meyer and escort him from the building. Each of the six officers reported that Meyer yelled things like, "They're going to kill me," and, "They are giving me to the government," while he was being taken from the room.

Despite humorous videos, pictures and acts attributed to Andrew Meyer online, friends of the University of Florida student insist his arrest Monday at an appearance by Sen. John Kerry was not any sort of publicity stunt.

However, one of the many videos circulating of the incident was shot with Meyer's own camera.

Additionally, some content on Meyer's Web site, TheAndrewMeyer.com, suggests that Meyer is a bit of a prankster.

The University of Florida identified two officers placed on administrative leave with pay after a student was shot with a Taser and arrested during a speech Monday by U.S. Sen. John Kerry.

Police report student told them: 'You didn't do anything wrong'

He got what he deserved, nothing but a Tom Green wannabe. The kid was given multiple warnings, even warnings of 'you will be tased' before it happened, he couldn't shut up and stop wiggling around.

I doubt he was even being arrested when they first had him, they were likely just going to release him outisde of the building, but he knew that wouldn't be enough to give him internet fame so he pushed every button he could without having to face true legal consequences. He got what he wanted, and even managed to get everyone on the internet to be defend his actions, so there is no reason to feel sorry for him, IMO.

The most disturbing fact is that campus cops had to use Taser to subdue this guy who appears nothing more than a typical campus dork.

Might want to start weight lifting instead of cramming your face with donuts, pigs. :roll1:
