Thad Matta knows talent. His recruiting exploits have brought new life to the basketball program in Columbus, Ohio. The latest commitment to his championship puzzle is Boston College transfer Evan Ravenel, a 6'8" 250 pound forward. The BPRT caught up with the newest Buckeye for another edition of The Straight Six.

BPRT: When you think of The Ohio State University, what comes to mind?

ER: A university with an abundance of traditions, great academics, athletics, and an alumni base that has been successful for many years.

BPRT: What other schools were you considering and how did the tOSU situation unfold?

ER: Among the other schools I considered were the University of South Florida and James Madison. After receiving my release from Boston College, I was contacted by Coach Dickerson who recruited me while I was in high school.

BPRT: Have you had a chance to meet and/or speak with any of your new teammates or incoming recruits?

ER: Yes, I met Jon Diebler, Dallas Lauderdale, David Lighty, William Buford, and Evan Turner. I did not meet any of the incoming freshmen.

BPRT: What are the strong points of your game? What do Buckeye fans have to look forward to from Evan Ravenel?

ER: I believe some of my strengths are being a team player, a good passer out of the post position, getting to the basket from different spots on the floor and ball handling. Buckeye fans can look forward to a person that exemplifies high moral character and one who will compete extremely hard both on and off the court. I am a person who will do whatever it takes within the game to win...a player who can provide offense and defensive stops when called upon to perform.

BPRT: How would you like to be remembered when you leave Ohio State?

ER: I want to be remembered not only as a great player but an excellent student and person that epitomizes great character.

BPRT: What are some activities you enjoy when away from the court?

ER: I like to go fishing and visit relatives.

Special thanks to StarBucks for his assistance with this interview

Thanks to the BPRT and starBUCKS for doing a Straight 6 with an Ohio State basketball player:)

Evan certainly sounds like a kid with his head on straight and willing to do anything for the team to be successful. He is a wonderful addition to our basketball program.
