What's hilarious about this is that a parody Twitter account (Not Bill Walton) broke this story on Twitter.

amen......will Nash get run through the mud for wanting to go to a championship contending team?

People don't hate Lebron because he wanted to go to a championship team. People will certainly hate Steve Nash if he has a television special about his decision, and then throws a pep rally counting rings before he plays a game with his new team. I know you like Lebron, and whatever, but don't play dumb. I'm going to be blunt - if you think people hate Lebron because he wanted to win, then you're fucking stupid. That is literally the last reason. That might be the only thing I respect about him, but that's a trait I respect about pretty much anyone who has an ounce ambition.

I wasn't aware Nash was from the greater Phoenix area, that he announced his intent to leave on a self-aggrandizing 1-hour ESPN special, etc.

In other words, are you really as dense as your post suggests, or was that just another of your attempts to troll on BP?

...that he was at the top of his game, that he is currently the most talented player in the NBA and shouldn't have to pull this shit,...

I'm actually kind of happy for Nash.
He seems like a stand up guy. Someone that you can be proud to have on your team and someone who tries to make the younger players better.

Good for him - I hope this extends his career for awhile.

Phoenix seems to be content to blow things up and start over - a painfull but necessary step for some franchises (Hawks, Atlanta) :(

The local butthurt is unbelievable right now.

That I don't understand. Steve Nash gave the Suns the best years of his career, but they couldn't win a championship with him. He wanted to win a championship, so he signed with a team he felt like could help him win. If I was a Suns fan i'd be pissed if he went to the Raptors for the money. Plus he went to Suns with the sign and trade idea, so he didn't totally f them over.
And the suns got beasly, gordon in FA and aaron brooks coming back. Playoff caliber.

Nobody got after (at least that I remember) Karl Malone for running off to LA for a shot at a title. I see this as a similar situation. I'm just happy that I'll get to see him play a few more times before he retires. The Suns never really got on tv around here before 10:30 PM.

I'm pretty sure the Heat already have a firm grasp on that title. Not that I would expect you to be able to see that.

Lakers have lived of free agency for a long time now. Miami has taken advantage of it what, twice? With Shaq and then Lebron/Bosh. When you have guys like Wade and Chalmers who were drafted and developed on the team, you can't really say that.

Guys like Pau, Shaq, Artest, Fisher, Horry, and so on were not drafted and developed by LA.

Of course, when you have to draft so late every season, it's not a shock you don't get perrenial star players, so you're kind of forced to live through free agency.

I don't think anyone ever blames the aging veteran for chasing a title at the end of his career. Although Malone not retiring a Jazz was disappointing.

Gary Payton won one with Miami and then retired. So it's not unheard of. I just wish Nash would have gone anywhere but LA. I freaking hate the Lakers.

Didn't Derek Fisher come in with Kobe? Otherwise, I agree with your point here.
