  • It's amazing how many times this happens. Darwinism at work.

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- A man, who investigators said was trying to steal copper wire, was electrocuted inside a Duke Power substation on Friday.

San Diego County deputies say that a man was electrocuted earlier this week while trying to steal copper wiring from power lines.

A Longview (TX) man who authorities suspect was trying to steal copper from a downed power line was electrocuted Thursday.

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- A man in his 30s was electrocuted Wednesday after he climbed a utility pole to allegedly steal some copper wire, according to Local 6 News.

In New Hampshire in the spring, two thieves were electrocuted while pilfering copper wire from a transformer.
    And finally...

WARREN, Ohio (AP) - Police say an apparent thief was found dead inside an electric power substation after trying to use a hacksaw on copper wiring and causing power surges or outages to thousands of homes in northeast Ohio.
You would think people could figure this out, but apparently resistance is futile. :wink2:

Electricity is dangerous to stupid people and meth addicts! We need to regulate it and save them from it!

i can't imagine there would be much resistance to this type of legislation.

This is really common in Vegas, houses on the market and construction sites have to hire security to watch.

    or... leave the power on..?

Play it safe, just steal A/C condensers.
We used to take a picture of everyone that brought scrap copper in and got a copy of the drivers license.
Some even stole the copper roofing that was being used to repair a church damaged during Katrina.:sad2:

I own a secondary home that I do not live in. I just take care of the grass, and keep it presentable. It's not really a great time to sell a house for me.

Anyways, three months ago I went up to the house to check on things. Someone broke the window out,and busted holes in the walls where electrical outlets were. They cut the lines going into the outlet, but sadly enough they turned the breaker off before thieving. I went out and looked at the breaker and they even ripped it off the wall and cut lines..Last time I checked copper wasn't even going for close to what it was this winter is it?
