We were the better team in football and basketball, proved it on the field enough said. You guys were lucky to make it to the NCAA finals with the way Xavier and Tennessee choked away their games. For a team of mostly freshman they (OSU) played pretty good and have nothing to be ashamed of. We were just too deep of a team with no weak links, excellent coaching, and experience from the previous year. Plus we have SEC speed, something I thought we taught you in the BCS title game.

Deep down you all dreaded a rematch because you knew we were just too good. Great even. I'm sure your expressions were something like Uh-:oh: ! Not Florida again! Gators are mean!

Been to Gainesville many, many times over my 50 years on the planet, and it is still a town of back-swamp, in-bred, dental-work-needin', white-trash, KKK-card carryin' rednecks. Regardless of the recent (emphasis on recent) success of your teams, you in no way and no how will ever compare to Ohio.

I don't know if it is the Gators being new at winning. Every team has a bad part of their fan base. But, I don't think it is fair to classify all people in Gainesville, or the south as rednecks, racists, etc.

True...but i just can't picture going on their board and bashing them (win or lose)...
That is because BP is a great site that is well moderated and does not have a lot of people who would want to flame. But, there are Buckeye fans out there who would do the same thing. People like this exist everywhere.
And, IMHO, classifying southerners as racist and rednecks is just as stupid as flaming another teams board.

    co-sign.

Some here aren't fond of Bucknuts, particularly the free board, and much of that is osu fan interaction. There are plenty of flamers in any fanbase, and when your alumni base & bandwagon is as large as OSU's... it increase the number of those types on other boards.

You must have never been to Chillicothe, Jackson or Zanesville

I went to FSU and visted UF many times....It was pretty shocking being from the north.....We are considered Yankees, and many are still pissed the South didn't win b/c they feel society would be much better.....the racism was really bad, and Florida often times isn't even considered the deep south...I thought Florida was abd, I can't even imagine had I gone to Alabama, Mississippi, or USC/Clemson

You been to Gainesville? If not, then you have nothing to say about this...
    You can't be serious...

    A) Having visited gainesville doesn't justify stereotyping, imo...

FWIW I am going to feel so stupid if I went to Gville for both National Championship games and we lost both of them.
But you'll also be showing just what a great fan you are to go directly into enemy camp to root on your Buckeyes...

Uh, I didn't just "visit" Gainesville...I've been there off-and-on throughout nearly my entire life. My mother was born and raised there (now, before you yayhoos start saying, "Well, you're stereotyping your own mother then", she is a fairly rare exception), and after moving up to Youngstown a few years before I was born in 1957, she moved back down just south of there in 1979 and has been there ever since (moved to Ocala about two years ago). During that timeframe, I've been to the Gainesville area dozens of times, and while the area has built up and expanded, there are many stark remnants of their dark past. You drive just outside Gainesville and you'd think you've just stepped onto the outdoor set of Mississippi Burning. Conferate flags are everywhere. Virtually all of your low-end labor is black. There are small backwood virtually-all-black towns with houses that are shantys. If you're ever in Florida, don't just visit glitzy places like Disneyland...drive abour two hours north from Orlando and wander through some of those off-the-beaten-path towns (just do so in the daytime)...it'll really open your eyes.

So when I drill the general populous of Gainesville, it's not just a rail of frustration with losing to Florida again...it's the voice of direct and sustained experience.

Shitty towns and prejudice exists everywhere. Everyone can find fault with a certain stereotype of any section of the U.S. I just find that insulting certain parts of the country for stereotypes is somewhat ignorant.

Not to the degree as it is in north central Florida...

Right. I'll remember that the next time you or anyone else here rips the entire state of Michigan, the city of Ann Arbor, or any other place. :roll1:

I think for the most part these jokes are semi-serious and would actually not make much sense if they were meant to be taken serious since Michigan is right next to Ohio. It is different when you are seriously referring to a whole portion of the country as a stereotype just because of where they live.
