Southern Cal 14, Arizona State 9 (final)

What a pathetic offensive showing. Hopefully this gets everybody off of Barkley'd gonads.
To be fair his star tight end, fullback and numerous others (Stafon Johnson, David Ausbury to name a few) are out injured and the replacements aren't quite as good. Since the second half of the Oregon game they have one offensive touchdown and ten offensive points scored in 6 quarters. This kind of performance won't cut it against Arizona and Stanford.
Their defense looked good most of the night though.

The replacements are former HS All-Americans and 5-star recruits. And so are their replacements. It's disruptive whenever you have changes in your lineup, but claiming a talent deficiency at USC would be a lame excuse on their part.

Balderdash.

This.

Where's that guy that was saying USC has the best backfield of all time earlier this season?

How many passes has Blake Ayles dropped the last two games, the same type of passes that which McCoy was killing teams? How many catches or carries has Shoemate had? True, they have talent but not all talent is equally talented. Barkley had a bad game but so did the SC O-line. He was getting killed. I think that piling on a kid after one bad game after the season he's had so far is more than a bit silly.

Pac-10 officials are making sure that USC wins this one :(

By penalizing USC for 23 more yards than ASU?
Then again, Pac-10 refs ARE retarded... so maybe they really were trying.

Barkley had a pretty bad game, not unexpectedly so. It kills me every time he throws to Ayles and the guy drops a ball that hit him in the hands, or the numbers, or whatever. McCoy is probably our biggest injury of the season so far. Havili being out hasn't helped things either.

Are the back-ups mostly high-level recruits? Sure, but they also tend to be younger, and haven't taken the snaps with the first team. They're playing skill positions and don't have the timing down. It's like saying, "well, this guy is a 5-star, he should be awesome, just plug him in there, no need to practice." Injuries can have a big impact on the rhythm of an offense.

Overall it was an ugly game but I'll take the victory. Can't wait for more of the guys to heal up and bring the offense back to speed.

Normally I would agree, but this kid is "The Chosen One". Sorry, The Chosen One doesn't get a mulligan. Everything gets thrown in his face immediately.

What an annoying game as an ASU fan. I thought we beat them in every facet of the game and still lose. Hopefully this puts the nail in the coffin on Danny Sullivan's ASU career and we can move forward with Osweiller.

If we could muster up a good o-line, I would actually like our team next year.

That defense is very impressive, especially the front 7. That freshman qb looks like the real deal too. ASU just might have some reason for optimism next season.
