Will Tony survive the final episode?

This is also an opportunity for everyone to write their storyline for the final episode - serious or otherwise.

How do you think it will play out?

I think he'll die.

I think the New Jersey crowd will win most of the war in the next episode (Phil and that other guy will die), but then Paulie will kill Tony.

Nice theory. I am going with Tony will meet his end from either Carmella or Anthony Jr. If it is Carmella, it will be a mistaken identity thing. It it's AJ, it will be that his bi-polar pushes him over the edge and takes out his emotions on his father.

Tony Soprano lives. They are making a movie, I don't feel it will do well without a Soprano in it in a power role. Paulie screwed up the "Phil situation", I think he's gonna find some way to make up for that in the next episode.

If Tony dies, I think Janice does it in one of her psycho moments. She will blame him for her misery and loss, bla, bla, bla.

If he lives, he may go to the FBI agent and go into the witness protection program. I say this b/c of the episodes after Junior shot him and he had a new name and identity in his dreams. He was a normal guy. All of his close friends are gone, his family is in danger, his therapists kicked him out, so this could be a real possibility.

After all of that, I am sure it will end in a big shoot-out and everyone dies.

On second and third thought, who in the hell knows.

That is no sure thing:

?It may be that in two or three or four years I could be sitting around and get an idea for a really great ?Sopranos? movie,? David Chase told The New York Times in a joint interview with James Gandolfini, star of the HBO series. ?I don?t think that will happen. But if one morning somebody woke up and said this would make a really good, concise, contained ?Sopranos? story, I wouldn?t rule that out.?

I was hoping next week would be 2 hours but no such luck. There's a lot of open story lines to deal with yet, but I don't think they will kill off Tony, however, his shrink dropping him does take away from a large portion of any future story line.

My thoughts, little Carmine does something to either take out Phil or have Phil taken out in an attempt to get things back in order, Tony will come out of hiding and possibly get shot leaving some form of cliff hanger so that if they ever do decide to make a movie, he's still there, and if not, you can assume he died.

When I think of how it might end I keep coming back to all that needs wrapped up. I also would hate to see it have a sudden end and not show anything in the way of how the family coped.

Even if Tony wiped out all of Phil's boys, he still has to rebuild his own crew. And where they left it last week they were laying low, not out actively tracking down the enemy. Whatever happens, I don't see how they do it with the subtleties that have characterized the series.

I've seen a lot of 'final episodes' in my day, but when Friends went out Ross didn't waste Chandler for dumping Monica and Mary Tyler Moore didn't firebomb the studio to settle her dispute with Ed Asner. This is serious life disruption, not just tearing down the MASH tents and flying home.

(FWIW I think the best final episode of all time was Seinfeld - just ahead of the Bob Newhart Show.)

I think he lives, the possible movie is one reason and the other is David Chase never goes for the obvious ending. I wonder if Furio may come back and save the day or if Paulie tries to turn causing Tony to wack him. Will AJ step up and be a man? I can't wait, between The Shield season finale and the series finale of the Sopranos this will be a great week of TV.

Tony goes commando on the NY heavies with his machine gun... and after a bang of glory and what looks like a total victory... gets taken out by a nobody... with a single shot
