You can't actually record a broadcast directly to Blu-Ray like you can with say a VCR or some DVD-Recorders. There are ways to record or transfer the DVR recorded file to your PC. Then with that file you can do a few things to play it back. You can just store it on a Hard Drive and play it back on your PC in the future (or hook up a PC to your TV to play on a big screen). You can transcode the file into something that is burnable onto a Blu-Ray disc (but that is expensive both for the Blu-Ray burner and the blank Blu-Ray discs = $10 a pop). Or you can transcode it into a file that you store on an external or networked drive that can be played back through your TV via an xbox360, PS3 or other media player device.
I think it is also possible (not sure how easy though) to make a Blu-Ray type file that is burnable to normal DVD-R discs. So you can play it back on your PS3 or Blu-Ray player and not have to buy an expensive Blu-Ray burner or Blu-Ray discs.
Hope that helps answer your question.
