TRENTON — — Two soccer moms were hauled to the police station with their children in tow Wednesday after they were accused of smoking marijuana in a van while waiting for practice to end.
Deborah Spangler, 40, of Rochester Hills, the driver, was charged with drug abuse.
<!--startclickprintinclude--><!--begintext-->Jessica Riddell, 39, of Pom Court was charged with drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors, according to a Trenton police report.
An officer was called to soccer fields on Pierson Road on a complaint of two women in a van smoking marijuana. Officer Scot Johnson said he could smell a strong odor of marijuana when he talked with Spangler, who said they were waiting for their children.
When Johnson looked in Riddell's purse, he said he found a half-smoked marijuana cigarette in a box of Marlboros. She admitted to officers that she and Spangler had been smoking marijuana, police said.
The officer also found a bag containing 2 grams of marijuana and rolling papers in a zippered compartment of Riddell's purse, according to the report.
After further questioning, Spangler admitted smoking marijuana and was arrested, police said.
Spangler and her son, and Riddell and her daughter were taken to the police department. The van was impounded.
Riddell posted a $100 bond, Spangler a $50 bond. Both are to appear in Mayor's Court on Wednesday.

No and if anyone ever spots me at a soccer practice, please assassinate me on the spot.

I thought the same thing at one point in my life until one day the boy wanted to play soccer... ughh it was a little heart breaking and watching the few practices and games I could I would have prefered to be assasinated, but fortunaltey he hated it and will not be doing that again. I think he is old enough for flag football next year :-).

Thank goodness your kid hated it.

You would have had a future of Capri Sun and orange wedges had he not changed his mind.

My 6 year old plays soccer. During practices I talk to the other soccer moms. During the games we all cheer them on.

On a side note, Dry played soccer as a kid. I got free tickets to Crew stadium a few weeks ago to watch the OSU Mens team play Bradley. I have never watched a soccer match up to this point. Because of that game, I now know why Dry has such great legs.
