SoCal Trip Pics, USC, LA, SD, OC...

Nice pics. I'm sitt'n here look'n for Mili to the west, across the Pacific. We currently have a good series of surf waves. I think the pics are fairly good of tourist locations and attractions. Once ya get away from touristy stuff, there is another, more common world here in South Orange County: At 6a.m., the San Clemente High School surf team is out on the water, winter or summer. (It's not as easy or pleasant as it looks on t.v.). We walk a 4-mile trail east of town and see coyotes, bobcat and raptors most of the year. Our gym opens at 5a. and it's full from 5 to 9 with all ages and abilities. Catalina is a great scuba dive spot out here. Clear water, great bottom profiles and an abundance of sea life. I dive on their "dive park", located about 400 yards from boat docks. Catalina has a cattle ranch and several youth camps for kids to enjoy learning about the ocean and camping.

In our town of 50,000, I would guess there are 2,000 or more from Ohio. Not uncommon to bump into folks wearing Ohio State shirts/caps.

A couple of days ago on Pendleton Marine Base (shares our southern border), I ran into a Buckeye in parking lot. He had Brutus on back window of van & wore a Woodie Cap w/large "O". From a distance I said, "Are you a real Buckeye?" He laughed and we had a good talk. This Marine is a serious Buck. He's from Akron. Just got back from Iraq.

Apologize for length, but out here we are proud of S. California and equally, very proud of our Ohio beginnings and our Bucks.

Go Bucks. Oh, btw, nice pics of S.Cal.

2 of my good friends from high school go to USC and we've been itching to head over there for either spring break or some time over the summer. Definitely up there on my list of places to visit. My ideal place to end up in life is probably some nice suburb in Southern California. That or Japan...drifting a Skyline down a curving country road. But I digress...

Looks like you had an awesome time there.
