You must learn to love:
1. Trees, specifically, the Ohio State tree, the buckeye
2. Scarlet and Gray - team colors, wear em with pride
3. The Horseshoe, home to the Ohio State football team
4. 2003 Fiesta Bowl - site of the last Ohio State NCAA football championship
5. TBDBITL - or as you may know it, The Best Damn Band in the Land
6. 101,568 - the official stadium capacity of Ohio Stadium and 105,539 largest crowd ever at Ohio Stadium (for a game against Michigan in 2002)
7. Sweater vests - Namely, those which are worn by Tressel, head coach of the Buckeyes
8. Money - the scoreboard (built in 1984) cost $2.4 million, or nearly twice what it cost to build the stadium originally!
9. Script Ohio - voted one of the best sports traditions of all-time
10. Winning - Ohio State is 350 -101 - 20 all-time at home!

You must learn to hate:
1. Michigan - one of the biggest rivals of Ohio State
2. Penn State - another rival, and home to the infamous white out where PSU beat Ohio State
3. Florida Gators - destroyed Ohio State in the last BCS Championship game
4. Wisconsin - Big 10 rival
5. Illinois - Big 10 rival
6. Michigan State - Big 10 rival
7. Minnesota - Big 10 rival
8. Purdue - Big 10 rival
9. Iowa - Big 10 rival
10. Indiana & Northwestern - Big 10 rivals

Other things to consider:
1. Ohio State University is one of only three universities to have won a NCAA national championship in football, basketball, and baseball (Cal and Michigan were the other two).
2. Ohio Stadium is listed in the National Registry for historic places; it was built in 1922 for about $1.3 million.
3. Ohio Stadium was renovated in 2001, at a cost of approximately $194 million!

Who here honestly hates Minnesota, Iowa, Northwestern on a consistent basis? Don't they have to be a bit more relevant?

To me, a big part of being a tOSU fan is conference pride. I enjoy watching Wisconsin stuff Arkansas, or Iowa win on a hail mary.

That record has been broken at least twice since then.

105708 is the new record (TSUN game - Nov. 18, 2006).

That broke the 105,565 set for the Texas game in 2005.

would this game really be so "infamous" if it hadn't been for the whole "white out" bit? seriously here... we had already lost a game in a season where the two teams who played for the nc were both undefeated. so its not like we lost our shot at a nc in happy valley. furthermore, we took a share of the big ten title. so its not like they knocked us out of that spot either. a bitter loss sure, but this was hardly 98 msu.

1. Michigan - one of the biggest rivals of Ohio State

one of the biggest? who are the other "biggest"? so we have a second rival in college football that compairs to the greatest rivalry in all of sports? interesting...

lastly, there is a whole lot of reference to money on this list. didn't realize we had such a hang up.

I disagree here, first off, I don't really give a crap about Florida. So they beat us, the football game was as much our fault as anything, the Bucks fell into the hype and went in un-prepared, Urban Meyer put together a great game plan and combined, the two meant the demise for the bucks.

But that hardly makes them a rival or anyone we should really care about, Notre Dame is more our enemy than these guys should ever be. Florida is a power school, just like us, and odds are we won't see them again for many years unless people continue to feed this "we should hate Fla" idea, then they will get scheduled and we'll end up with a long term rivalry that makes no sense. They are SEC, we are Big 10.

As for the rest, Michigan I agree with, we should hate them, Penn State, meh, some years yeah, other years no, they are about as much of a "power house" as Purdue in my opinion. And when any of these schools play another conference, I am rooting for the Big 10. So "hate" is a pretty strong term, I enjoy watching my Bucks beat these teams, however, I enjoy watching these teams win bowl games against other conferences as well.
