Thanks for the info guys, I do appreciate it. Yeah I understand it is overkill, but the way I figure it, my grandma will have him doing her driveway and walks as well and as stated, he isn't getting any younger...

I just don't want him to have to work too hard to clear the drive. I was curious, occasionally the snowplows come by and bruy the end of the drive, I am assuming that this will not pose a problem with this thrower?

Merry Christmas

Not totally, but even I have a tough time with it since it tends to become ice. It can be tough to push through (to get under it you need to be able to hold the thrower down in order to get to the bottom of the ice). It's tough to stay on top of because if you clear your drive before they do it, then it just sits there and turn more and more to ice with every car that drives by and throws slush on it.

There really isn't anything you can do there.

Toro is the best, and Craftsman has the least reliable numbers. Troy Bilt is not bad. I actually have a Craftsman 27 in./8 hp. Mine has worked fine with some small little glitches. I might have bought something else but Sears was the only store with throwers in stock. It works great for the most part, but everyone I know that has a Toro swears by them. If you do go Craftsman watch for the type of engine. Some of there models have less reliable engines than others.
